I can not seem to figure out what this hole is for in the back of my boat. Does anybody have an idea of what it's for. All i can see in it is a piece of copper metal.

Easy, to allow water to drain out while the boat is in motion. The copper wire is to hold a ball in place. When the boat is sitting, the ball will be pushed inward via water and "should" seal the tube so no water leaks in..

That assembly is an auto-bailer. it can be found here: http://whobbies.com/accessories.htm

The whole assembly is called an auto bailer. You might just want to purchase a new one. There should be an o ring in it first then the ball then the wire to hold it in . I would just buy a new one and use the parts in yours unless you can get the old one out and install new unit. Some times you can heat it up if it was epoxy in and pull it out.

Try using an Airsoft BB. Test it by setting it in the water and watch for leakage. IT can leak a trickle and still be effective as most of the time you are running it is bailing.

DON,T TRY TO FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!!! I had one that did not seat right and when it runs out of batteries or fuel and sets dead for a few minutes IT WILL SINK making it much harder to retrieve and you run the risk of damaging electronics for no reason other than I ran out of gas no cool stories about the crash all ya got is ran out of gas need new reciever just change it it,s worth the five bucks.

Ever thought of testing it before you run it? A simple piece of dirt can make it leak. Also some floatation will keep it from sinking. Then your Radio box is meant to be water proof to help protect your investment. My 38in deep v has been upside down quite a few times and have not hurt radio equipment yet.
