Interference? Is someone screwing with me?
Hey guys.
I have a Duratrax Raze with the stock Futaba Transmitter & Receiver.
I can work on the car for hours, with the Transmitter & Receiver on, tweaking the throttle/brake servo & have absolutely no problems. When I first bring it outside, I can fool around with it still (before starting the motor) & suffer no problems. However, when I fire her up and get a couple passes in, I almost ALWAYS get interference, I'll get a run away car or the car still steer away and end up behind a neighbors house under their porch upside down in a puddle of water (not really, but you get the idea).
I've taken the car to several parks & sand lots & I've never had any sort of interference. Is someone in my neighborhood screwing with me? What could cause the interference? There are a lot of CB radio operators. I'd like to narrow down who could possibly be messing with me and kindly ask them to stop. [&:]

i dont think someone is intensionally screwing with you, you might get interfierence from anything with a AM radio, could be a phone a microwave, tele lines, power lines, cellphones.. i would invest in another crystal maybe that will take care of that, if not then i suggest a FM radio.

If you try everything and decide on a new radio I'd skip fm and go straight to a DSS system. They broadcast in the same band as cellphones and use a similar technology and are very interference resistant. You can pick one up for not a lot more $$ than an equivilent fm system.

If the glitching seems like someone else is controlling the car (ie: smooth motion, heads straight for things, works throttle and steering together) rather than just random input then there is a good chance someone is screwing with you.
If you have the money for something in the ghz range I would get it.

There is no twitching or anything. When I idle the car, everything is fine. I'll hit the throttle and the car will take off behind houses like it's actually under control by me, but I'm standing there going "CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!!!!!!!!"
It's almost predictable...

Just for fun try switching frequencies, if it works fine for awhile on a different channel then someone is definitely messing with you.

Indeed, yse, definitely get one of teh 2.4GHz radio sets out there. There are even 2.4GHz modules and receivers for some existing radios. Spektrum make the majority of them. Futaba recently made the 3.4GHz FASST upgrade for its 3PK radio sets. Futaba 3PM 2.4GHz is a radio built around the FASST gear. Nomandio makes the Sensor and React, which are spread spectrum 2.4GHz systems designed from the ground up. These radio sets do not suffer from any glitches.
