They are not bad. I use to think they where junk but I bought a Vortex EXP and it's been a great truck so far. I've had it a couple of months now.

Their cars are decent at best. Personally I wouldn't recommend the for a new user mainly because of lackluster initial quality and nearly non-existent local parts support. You'd be best off buying something from a major brand like HPI, Traxxas, Losi, Associated, etc. That way, you can get advice and support from pretty much any RC hobby shop around.

Personally I wouldn't get the rs10. It uses 380 size motors which are rather small for 1/10 vehicle, much less a crawler.

Stick with a name brand for the parts support. I had a Redcat and I ran it for a month at most and then I was frustrated with trying to get parts for it. Sold it for next to nothing. If you want a crawler, I'd suggest the Axial.

I have a Volcano S30. I just ordered parts 2 days ago and got them today. I ordered parts on Monday and got them in 2 days. Not to bad. If you go to the Redcat Racing support forum here there is a lot of support there. Many authorized dealers also. They have their Pros and Cons just like any other manufacturer. I hope this helps.

I wouldn't get one as a beginner either. I know firsthand how random offbrands like Redcat can be. Six years ago CEN was the off-brand on everyone's lips. I bought one. Got six years out of it but the engine blew up two gallons in and the drive gears are fragile.

A lot of people don't like but in my own opinion, they are good for the money. A good place to get parts (and the cars) is mainstreamrc.com. The owner of that site is my lhs owner and he carries a full stock of parts at good prices. Like I said, a lot of people don't like redcat, but everybody has their own opinions and bad luck stories for any truck so just keep that in mind. To get a rtr buggy out the door for under $200 is pretty good. Or to get a 4x4 gasser for under $600.
