Do you keep all your boxes?
Stupid question, I know, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one. Can't seem to bring myself to throw away the packaging for any of my RC stuff, not sure why. A little OCD I think. Was having a look around my basement and I have closets and drawers full of them, everything from vehicles all the way down to my Spektrum receivers.

RE: Do you keep all your boxes?
I try to keep all my packaging, replacement part packages (for the part # reference) and anything else I can in the event I trade/sell the car, the person that gets it can be a little more prepared.

I keep some of them. I have some NIBs, and some boxes that I'm saving for when I resell. Generally I throw away or recycle most of the packing unless it's collectible or rare.

I keep them all but they are in the rafters of the garage facing down though so I can see them. All the manuals are in the filing cabinet.

I keep boxes for stuff that costs a lot. It looks better when I try to sell on ebay if it's sitting on the box. Makes people feel like I took care of it (which I do, but you know how much of a pounding these things take).

Only keep my tamiya boxes. The current crop of traxxas, assoc, losi's and others out there will never be worth anything. They just don;t have the following tamiya does.
Who knows when my DF-03RA is gonna be worth something some day. I saw an original Sand Scorcher empty box sell for $80 last year.. Pretty ridiculous.

I sell a lot of stuff...mostly car audio stuff and have since learned to keep all the original packaging.
Doing so with my new found hobby...just in case.

Keep the boxes for the ref numbers for replacement parts, same as with spare parts bags, keep the tags so I know whats in my buggy and know the prices at my LHS as well as knowing the order number, just makes life a bit quicker at the shop when you know what to order or what to look for. As for the old pieces, throw them away, there is nothing as irritating as going through your kit bag thinking you have the parts there just to find that its even worse than the piece you want to change, like glow plugs, how many people keep old glow plugs or half stripped screws, nuts and bolts, busted up bearings and old clutch shoes. What about old tyres, just cannt bring myself to throw them away.

RE: Do you keep all your boxes?
I only keep the boxes as long as the warranty lasts. After that, out they go. All my spare parts are stored in containers sorted by vehicle. My running gear and charger are stored in a crate for easy grab and run. My only problem I have to get over is keeping tools that are completely worn out.
As far as parts records, I actually keep them on one of my computers. When you enjoy model rockets, RC cars, dabble in planes, have 2 laptops and a homebuilt desktop(liquid cooled for less noise), archery, and fishing, you end up not having a lot of room left for boxes, or yourself occasionally when you live in a small apartment.
