RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I am stoked beyond belief.
My son just turned 9 and lucky for me, I mean, him, he likes RC and Monster Trucks.
I figured a LB was in order for a righteous Birthday gift!!!
We worked on it a little yesterday, but have been racking our brains on how we are going to paint the body.
He is a hockey fan, and we have a local semi-pro team called the Everblades, so here is a 5-minute photoshop rendering of what may be:
I bequeathed to him a grip of old Futaba AM radio gear, a decent coreless motor servo (S9301 I think) for steering, and of course soldered a deans connector onto the tamiya ESC. We will keep the stock ESC &Silvercan motor installed until he gets used to handling a real RC truck!!!
carry on...

Haven't written a long time in this thread and now I need your help: I'm looking for a picture. On that picture there is a Lunchbox in front of a grafiti wall and I liked it very much but now I can't find this picture any more. Can you help me?
PS: I still have my Box and I love just love it.

Looks good! The green wheels are cool.
Just wondering whether it's considered bad form to drive the car before painting the body?
I don't think we will be able to resist the temptation!

The yellow wheels just didn't go well with the body, so they had be changed.
The paint job has more than its share of runs, drips and errors because I put very little time and prep into it. I figure my kid will liklely bash the heck out of it anyway
Here we go:

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
The LB is such a fun car! It just flies over bush terrain and dirt, doesn't miss a beat. It's about as fast as I expected, but handles better (less bouncy) than i expected. 4600mah battery lasts a long time, 45-60 mins (we are yet to flatten it, having to stop for reasons other than the battery running low - nice! I used to get 12 mins with my Frog and NICD back in the day).
Top value car.
Still unpainted, but we have a colour scheme in mind
Other than a few bits coming lose through not being tightened enough, the only real problem is the tyres coming lose. i remember someone gluing theres, i'll go back through the thread for info.
I'm sure we will have more questions, and some pics when complted, but thanks again [8D]

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Did I ever post the lunchbox I put together with my 7 year old daughter? She did all the painting herself and helped me with rebuilding the chassis ( i got it from a friend, an almost complete chassis) . It is equiped with a 8.5 turns brushless motor and 60 A esq from hobbywing.. it flies... and more important she loves it..

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Hmm. I'm putting on the rear oil shocks and the instructions call for an upper flange to connect the top of the shock too... The LB doesnt have an upper flange and no details in the instructions on how to convert it. I feel like i'm just missing a minor detail in the installation. Are there extra parts i need to buy to get them to work?
Thanks
Thanks

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Yeah, the kit comes with four of those u-shaped brackets so that you can convert to oil shocks all around. I dont remember, but im sure those parts are in one of the metal parts bags with hte kit. I did the front of mine with oil filled, and im still deciding if doin the rear is necessary. Im gonna do the 3rd shock mod first and see ho that makes the rear act. Hey...to anyone out there thats done that mod...Does the 3rd rear shock make a difference as far as left and right wheels react individually? Do they still have the ability to react somewhat seperate?

Ok. Yeah, never seen those. I made sure i dumped all the parts into my magnetic bowl, so it'd be hard for them both to somehow sneak out...
Thanks again for the help!

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Ok. Time for the RC car guys to laugh at the RC plane guy.... I'd previoiusly mentioned i couldnt get my speed control to turn on.... []
Fact is, i hadnt touched my LB in 6 months or so and forgotten that the car actually had a switch for the speedo. NONE of my airplanes and most of the plane industry do not use switches just because of weight and another thing to fail.
I must have spent an hour and a half fiddling with my setup to get my LB to turn on. Finally put my finger under that spot and felt the switch! [&:]
