RE: Return of Lunchbox..
I bought the dual adapters...what the heck they are uncommon and I can pickup a spare set of rear wheels easily.
I have never seen them on an LB before...anyone has pics?

I'm sure you guys have seen these.
2 videos of Rolling Thunder that the Lunchbox is 'built after':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPxYWwGrT_s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ep70XE4kLQ
2 videos of Frankenstein that the Midnight Pumpkin is 'built after':
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCCdncYykNQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcYVjNOc3-A
Notice the color of Frankenstein. Not close to the standard MP, but suspiciously close to the Lunchbox scheme right?

there is no questioning the similarities. but i just have to question how influenced tamiya (based in asia) would be by some (at the time) back woods hill billy monster trucks. did tamiya ever say those were the basis? keep in mind the early to mid 80's. globalization was nothing like it is now.
just curious

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
LOLZ had some fun with the LB today.
7 Cells and the 19T has been fun and I got some parts I needed in. The truck was running but i needed a stocker wheelie bar and some extra parts.
These truck do have limits I found. I slammed sideways into a curb in what was actually a cool little move I pulled off and pushed the center of a front tire in a little. The rim rubbed and I got worried but the center piece is actually movable. I just need to reglue it but it would run just fine if I left it.
A rite of passage for a properly run LB has to be a broken windshield lolz...

Well my source was Wikipedia. I assume it is correct since I've heard the names mentioned with regard to the Tamiya models on several occasions. Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong.

i don't know. i just find it hard to believe it REALLY is the inspiration. i guess it's possible, though. i don't have any information to the contrary. i just suspect this might be urban legend.
i doubt tamiya would ever admit it, though. there would probably be some licensing problems involved. on one hand it would be an amazing coincidence. on the other hand how could you prove it was not?

It'd have to be super strong if you are going to try that w/ a Clod / TXT due to their size and weight.. If you do jump or land on the side, you are going to break the shaft for sure!

I'll give 'em a shot but if you really want them let me know. They aren't terribly practical and are more for a goof. Why they made them for the LB and not the clod/TXT is beyond me.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Well they never made that dual wheel setup for the txt because that is more of a old 80's hopup. You saw it more on some old sandrails/dunebuggies and such from the 70's/ 80's. It would put alot of stress for sure unless the wheels and tires were fairly narrow.

Wow folks...I guess these adapters are pretty cool.
I am going to play with them for a tiny bit after I find a set of stockers I can run these with.
I'll let you guys know.

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
Maybe this is a dumb question but I'll try anyway.
There are two parts...
Does any 2.2 FRONT rims/wheel work on a LB/MP? Midnightpumpkin and I have been racking our brains...
Lastly are there any LB/MP folks using tires on stocker rims other then stockers or the Imex ones Midnightpumpkin is using?

RE: Return of Lunchbox..
different tyres for the stock rims are available but very hard to find.
they are 2.0" very unusual size

Hmm.. maybe time to go back and read up on the thread?! hee...
The HPI wheels work fine... Tamiya's own Wild Willy 2 front wheels will work too and is stronger! That's what I run most of the time..
