RE: Slash 2WD VXL IS RELEASED!!!
Price will drop.
But...eh...big deal right? Why don't they do something productive like put decent shocks on them rather than just stuffing more power in it?

I don't see the big deal at all. Anyone who wanted a Slash VXL could have but the electronics in there themselves. More companies need to release NEW vehicles not just factory versions of mods.

Mmm. SC10 over the Slash any day. I've driven both extensively, no comparison really. If you really want to bash hard the Slash is better, otherwise the SC10 is a way better vehicle.

RE: Slash 2WD VXL IS RELEASED!!!
Here's my issue.
I don't currently have a vehicle or radio, so I need the full gammit. I'll be bashing more than racing, and I live in the northeast so snow is coming soon. (is the SC10 waterproof? asking 'cause I don't know)
I would go 4x4, except there is no class for 4x4 at my local track (at the moment, may change in the future but who knows)

I know that 2wd can be hard to do in the snow, but the slash 4x4 is waterproof right? Like others said, for $25 more that may be a better option and with the popularity, there should be a class soon I would think

The Slash will be better in the snow.
Since you'll be bashing more than racing, get the 4x4, it'll perform way better in the snow than the 2wd.

The Slash is not waterproof, just the electronics are.
You'll be replacing bearings on a very regular basis if "waterproof" is one of your requirements.

you wont be replacing bearings left and right if your just running in the snow, maybe if youre running in water alot where the bearings are submerged, i made it through a whole winter of running without replacing one bearing on my 4x4 or slash 2wd

This is cheaper than buying a brushed Slash, then buying the VXL system after the fact.

that would cost much less.

To the OP, if you want to run in snow, I'd go with the Slash 4x4. Although the 2wd will do ok with some paddles or chains on it.

TRaxxas also has a trade up program, where you trade them your old gear, and get 50% off the Velineon system and Traxxas Link radio
only problem there is the wait

that's 50% off retail price. That's the same program they have with their engines, and it's almost cheaper to buy the engine from your LHS.
Traxxas is extremely good at making things look like a good deal when they're really not.
