you know, i changed my mind on leaving. I have decided that rather than take time off for rc, i will try to cut it down and then I WILL STOP spending money on it for atleast a month. I realized that its something fun to do when i get home late and dont really feel much like hitting the gym. so i am over my little pitty party and hope to update this thread with a speed soon. I guess i wont be hitting 60, but lets see where we are.

well pulled the tranny apart last night and discovered that i had TOTALLY destroyed the idler. i rebuilt the entire tranny and then repeaked the promatch 6 cell pack and took it out for a spin today. on 6 cells and carrying the gps, i topped 42.5mph. now that i have my baseline, i will be working on my topshaft and then wil be installing the ti cvds. will attach a pic soon.

elmo,

i plan on trying the pack out again real soon. i fixed everything that could have even remotely been causing a problem the first time i tried. my issue is that the esc was totally dropping off after about 20ft. like i said, i fixed everything that might have been causing that issue and will try it again to see if i have any luck. my problem was that i ran a sport pack while i was waiting on the 8c. the sport pack ran fine even with the transmitter bats dying, i then put the 8c in and it went all to heck. so i will try it out again and get back to you via pm if i have any issues.

I can imagine 8 cells screwing up the ESC - it has a ton of power!

My car's faster (43.7) LOL, just kidding.

Hows the T4 handle at those speed? My B4 handles for crap, minor steering corrections makes its ass end want to suck down to one side which makes the oposite front wheel come off the ground, then if try to steer it back straight to set both front wheels back down it just goes squirly and usually goes tumbling.

Im thinking about putting the rear sway bar on mine for doing on road speed runs. Hopefully that will help take car of some of the chassis roll and keep me from sacrificing any more parts.

I think I'm gonna throw in the towel with my T4, the diff blew the second time in a matter of minutes.... I've got maybe a total of 10 minutes of run time on it - I think I'll trade it for an XXX-T

actually, i ran it with the gps yesterday with a half dead pack and got 43.7mph also. mine handles just fine, if i knew someone wouldn't come down the street and run em over, i would put some track dots out and do a a few runs. but you have to remember, my truck is pretty slammed and is specifically set up for on road. the only time it gets loose is on take offs, i have a lot of wheel spin so i have to counter steer to keep it straight.

Great Job, sleepy! What gear ratios were you running? I'm JUST getting 41.4 out of my B4 on 6 cells (GP3000). ( Still alot better than my Novak ), but I'm running 81/26 with 3.25" Road Rage tires.

See, all that hard work has paid off! Your T4 ( which is alot heavier than my FT B4 ) is almost 3mph faster than my B4! ( assuming the weight and drag of the GPS, I'm, topping out at 43......)

I was putzing around with my Elmo supplied 7 cell packs yesterday. The T3, on 84/21, but with Gladiators all the way around, Just got to 41 ( 41.1). Same cells, in the B4, still at 81/26 got me 49.6! The Novak just can't compete with the 6s motor!

What I'm trying to understand is the discrepencies in my measurements. From one day to the next, I can gain, or lose 3 mph, on the same truck/buggy with the same battery and the same GPS attached. Every run is done using freshly peaked cells, but there is a differnece from day to day.

i got 2033g (72oz) with the 8 cell pack and the gps. i need to try and get the 6 cell weight also. i would say i am close to being on par with the b4 weight.
i will have to check, i dont remember my gear ratio

as for the other issue, the only thing i can think of that is changing is the wind resistance.

Damn, 45mph, thats pretty darn fast for an ST.

I hit 51 today (with my B4), same setup as before, but on a fresh comm cut and 7 cells.

I'm not sure how accurate that run was though as my GPS is now acting all screwy, it keeps losing reception, then gets it again, sometimes locks up, gives very low or high reading, etc. (its not a normal GPS by the way, its a PPC with a GPS card in it).

I think Im gonna buy one of the little garmins, either the geko 101 or 102, theyre uber small, and only about 1/3 the weight of my GPS (mine is 9oz, the geko is like 3).

I think 51 should be about right though, last 6 cell run I hit 43.7, so an extra cell should have yeilded around 7 more MPH, the fresh comm shouldve gave a little increase as well.

i got some packs on the way that should provide some killer numbers. it will be 6 cell packs with 1.19 average. thats a bit higher than my promatch's so top end should be about 44-45 out of 6 cell, but acceleration will be unreal. and these are just my baseline numbers. i have a custom topshaft that is half the weight of the super light ti one i have now and then i still have my ti cvds to put in and run. so top end may not increase too much with those mods, but acell will go thru the roof.

You still havent installed the Ti CVD's? I start slapping my hop-ups on as soon my grubby little hands can get the packages open [X(]

I still havent ordered my set, the B4 is just gonna have to wate on the more expensive mods cause Im bussy with my crawler right now. Plus I still need to get the rest of my Ti screws.

I did however order a set of aluminum front knuckles with titanium axles. I got them for a killer price (5 bucks!), the knuckles are anodized blue though so I'm gonna have to de-anodize them to keep in line with the stealthy-non blingy look. Im also planning on dremeling/drilling on the knuckles some to make up for the added weight of the aluminum compared to the stock plastic ones.

well i wanted to run the baseline tests before i slapped in the parts i know should cause some performance gains. my next goal is going to be some super light wheels with some munkey foams on them.

mmmmmmmm munkey foams..... I hear those are sweet Get em with the icing on them, they they're REALLY sweet..

btw, to answer your earlier question, yes I did get the RM wheel-based foams made. I ran them Saturday and they did very well. I ended up using the Starz wheels, and they look very nice. I prefer the Chrome Torkerz personally, but the Starz rock too.

well here is a pic of my version 2 racing tranny. this is the one with the 3gram topshaft and the titanium outdrives and ti cvds. at this point i am very close to being to the end of tranny mods. i have about two more mods i would like to try. one of them i know is possible, the other might be possible but not gonna be good for anyones whose truck leaves the ground.
