Default RE: The Evader Coalition - T.E.C.

Probably the best motor you can run without a new esc in your evader is the orion 21x2 or any good 27t motor. Those will get you to about 25+ which isn't a lot faster then stock. So, a new esc that will run low turn motors could cost anywhere from 40 to 180. Then a good lower turn motor will cost you fourty bucks or more and will require occasionally cutting the comm. and new brushes. If you go to a really low turn motor like say a 9t you will need to cut the comm quite often to keep it in good running order. Comm cuts cost on average about ten bucks and brushes five and up. As you can see, in the long run a brushless setup will cost less if you are really wanting a lot of speed. If you just want a decent speed and a decent price get an esc that will handle 19t and get a good 19t motor.

Jakjr-you are right the ss5800 isn't that fast but we are talk about an evader so it probably wouldn't be wise to throw in a hacker or even one of the faster novak/lrp's. The ss5800 compared to the stock photon speed...does it even compare? For me at least, the ss5800 is probably more than I need.

If you look through this thread there is a post talking about how to modify the servo saver, and even a link that talks more about it.

ive had my speed gems 9t for over a year now (and run the crap out of it )ive only ben through 3 sets of brushes 3.00 a set and never had it turned (no noticeable speed loss)
if u want some proff if u go to the vintage rc thread and look at the first vids there they are from about 4 month ago and the ones i posted here where filmed today(and its ben run at least once a week since then usually every day)

i do need to turn it soon tho my com is getting pretty rough

i think its all in the quailty of brushed motor u buy ive had 27 turn motors that need com turned every 5 runs (ive never had any quality problems with trinity only venom and orion)

oh yea i got my esc's for under 30 bucks and they handle 4-10 cells and 300 amps (bascialy no motor limit)ebay /tekin 410s and 410 s2

I have a Evader st. I don't want a brushless system its to expensive. is there a company that makes a motor for stadium trucks??
Does anyone know how to modify a servo saverand can you show me some pics

Thanks

I have the evader pro and run a orion method 21 X 2 motor and it hits 34 mph (on 7 cells and 20 thoth pinion) and with the stock pinion 27 mph and as you can see in the above pictures it wheelies great too. How fast do you want to go? If you are off road bashing you really can't get up too much speed anyway.

No it's too big height wise
Stick packs have those plastic ends trhat make them really tall
Exactly right. My Epic 3000's didn't have that, so they fit fine, but with these new Venom 3000's the plastic dealy sticks up.

Anyone can tell me what are the best "on road" wheels for my ST Pro? I want new rims and tires, front and rear. I like chromed wheels or flat black.

The tires I am listing I use on an Evader BX Pro. to use the ST front rims you will need to
change the Knuckel arm [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXAMG6&P=Z[/link] or [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXBDK4&P=Z[/link]

I use these on Evader ST rear Rims [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLN12&P=7[/link]
I use these on Evader ST front Rims ( sand off inside outer lip ) [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0095p?FVSEARCH=proc1072&FVPROFIL=++&search3=Go[/link]

Pro-Line has a lot of street tires that work great it all depends on conditions ( hot, cold, rough or smooth )
I have 10 different sets of tires, depends on conditions.

Look under Evader ST Parts List they have some nice chrome rims there [link]http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0005p?&I=DTXD20**&P=Z[/link]

lighthorse. That looks sweet, like an indy car. Where did you get the nerf bars?

I have a couple questions for my fellow evader drivers. How far is your radio range? I have the futaba 2PL and was only getting about 100' or less at the beach, shouldn't it be more than that? It was very windy so I don't know if that would effect it or not.

I am thinking of going to a bl motor and want one with about the same power and speed as a 12-15 turn brushed motor. Would this be a good choice? I don't want one with too much power and end up stripping my tranny.

I Custom built the bars from 3/8" brake line Shaped, Sanded, Primed and Painted..

I don’t know about tearing up your tranny I run a Shock 12T1 flatwire Trinity Motor,
27t Pinion, 86t Spur and a 7 cell 3800pack. My buddy and I Will take our cars down to the bridge (About 500'
from our drive way) and wait for some on coming traffic ( one vehicle ) when they pass
we jump on it and try to pass them ( traffic is 50+). I don’t Know about brushless or not
from what I’ve read I think I would be faster ??

As for radio we got rid of the futaba’s for the same reason and went with JR XS3 Pro
Better radio all around. They have the2.4GHz DSM™™ spread spectrum

Nice BX[sm=thumbup.gif]. Hey, do you guys think i'll be able to do a wheelie with a 16t pinion, quad mag, and mashers? I know on carpet with stock tires, a stick motor and a 20t pinion if i went in reverse then floored it i could ride a wheelie and balance it with the throttle. I'm wondering because that'll be what monstervader has and i hope i can have some fun with it. Right now all the elctronics are in the rising storm because that stupid axle. So, the evader'll be sitting for at least another 2 weeks. In the meantime, i've been having some good fun with the buggy. I'm hitting around 28mph with my cheap motor and i've been doing stunts like backflip 360's and stuff. So, monstervader will just look pretty until i get to ordering axles next week.

Hey tamiyacrawler
I see you got one of those Speed Stocker 27T motors - I've got one on the way. How do you go about soldering/attaching the 3 capacitors to it? Or is it just one? I'm a little confused/hesitant.

Raz, I reckon I get about 40-50m (140-150 feet) when at my house/driving around the street, actually maybe even up to 180-190 feet.

Cool thanx. It says it needs "No-Solder Connectors - are they just your normal plugs? I saw someone else had a problem with theirs melting. Mine have gone that way too.

BTW - has anyone successfully put air holes/cooling holes in their Evader? I saw in a mag recently about how you can cut the windscreen out and put fine steel mesh in there (like fly screen but metal). I need to do something 'cause mine gets awfully hot! [:@]

No solder leads are motor connectors that clip on then hook up to the esc. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXTJ21&P=ML

I use these on my reedy quad 19t with 7-cells and have no issues; they are gold plated and 13ga to boot (bigger quage than the ESC wires).

When I wrote to hobby services I told them the new servo stripped out when I bumped a wall and I was barely moving (less than 2 mph). I asked them if this was aproblem with the evader or was I just having bad luck? I am thinking of buying a metal gear servo, would this cure my problem? The next email they sent was telling me they were sending a metal gear servo free of charge as a courtesy.

I was reading some earlier posts and some were having trouble with the battery
hold down strap and use velcro instead when using 7 cells. Here’s mine and it
works ok with a 3800 7 cell. I am wondering where the problem may have been.

You can't use the strap with a hump pack, so velcro works great.
