Yeah, I am sure those aluminum wheels are stupid $$$.. [&:]

Hopefully Tamiya will continue to sell the TXT-1 wheels for you then...
Pretty sure that you can run clod wheels too, if you swap out those five hole plastic wheels hubs for clod/jug ones.

That's awesome. Sweet looking truck, didn't realize some of the pieces we assumed were plastic were really black aluminum (like the side plates). Tower has it currently listed for $500. Youch.

Overall, I think the txt-2 looks very good. I like how it has spots to mount fans over your motors. Nice touch. We'll have to see how much other places are charging when it's released. Tower always charges premium price.

Yeah, has black aluminum plates on the side, that's not bad.. although I'd still argue that's a cost cutting measure, compared to the TXT-1's frame..

I think once coupon is applied and all that, it will be down to low-400s.. and will eventually down to high-300s.. (I know how much I can get it for now, but often time Tower will eventually get close to even beat it..)

Not sure if any cooling is needed when running only single pack! And if one is running dual pack, maybe just go with a big-can BL setup with a heatsink. But it is interesting nonetheless.. I wonder if Tamiya will release some fan as hop-up!

I can't believe this thread still exists. I've been out of the game for close to three years, logged in and found this as the 2nd thread on the page! I wish I had my TXT with me still, but I moved away and was unable to take it with me, so now its in my family's basement!

Looks like there's gonna be a TXT-2!

Should be cheaper, based on the construction.. no more billet aluminum chassis frame, etc.

I want this so much. I hope this comes out soon!

I wonder if it will be the normal Tamiya pricing. Something in the 600 to 800 dollar range on their website, but a lot of the hobby shop sites offering them in the 450 range, hopefully less though.

It will end up in low-400s first, and at the end it will be mid-300s.. (I am talking about after coupon, etc.)

This is based on LB insider information.. (joke)

TXT-2 has me in all the sorts of quandaries I went through ten years ago with the TXT-1!

Back then I had to choose between an E-Maxx and the TXT as my first major r/c purchase and I'm not sorry I chose the E-Maxx, but there is a nagging regret that I never built a TXT-1 as a shelf queen. Every now and then I check ebay for one but alas nothing []

Now there is this TXT-2 and I know I would LOVE to build it, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to keep it. I just don't know what this truck is supposed to be. I find it a strange design given how the world has moved on since the days of the TXT-1. One look at those flimsy axle links has me frowning a bit.

I think I still want a TXT-1! Even though I have nowhere to display it

I think TXT-2 is a more budget version of TXT-1...

Regarding "the world has moved on".. I don't really see it that way.. since it is the only monster track that's scale to the real thing.. it is full of character... !

Don't you think the TXT-1 was more authentic though? This seems to be a bit of a halfway-house... [&:]

Yes, I think the TXT-2 is a water down version of TXT-1!

I have a thread up on mine i built a few weeks ago. I definately don't think it's watered down in the least. It shares a lot of parts with the txt-1, but the chassis design on the 2 is brilliant. Its the most scale looking mt you get get right now too! The biggest downside to me is the wheels and tires. I built mine with 15 tooth pinions (stock is 19) in order to use clod tires. Just waiting on my txt-1 wheels to show up now.

I am sure it functions just fine.. when I said "waterdowned", I just meant that it was designed to lower the price / cost. TXT-1 has the nicely machined chassis that's certainly more expensive to manufacturer, for example. Does it work better than the TXT-2 chassis? Probably not. But it costs more to make those for sure.

The TxT-1 has simple to machine aluminum frame. The 2 has aluminum and resin frame, machining and injection moulding are more expensive the a simple piece of aluminum.

Oh come on lets not get heated

The txt1 frame has the bling factor. No two ways about it. The new frame, to me, is impressive in its own right. The aluminum plates bolt to the tube frame to form an extremely strong, very rigid structure. It also has a lower stance/center of gravity than the previous truck. If you missed the txt-1, youll be glad to get the 2. And if you have the first one, now you can get parts again. Everyone wins!
