Rustler VXL 3s VS Stock Jato 3.3
I want to know which one will be faster if the jato is completely stock and the rustler is geared at 31/87 or so? This is just a normal length race that is up and down the street that will be infront of your house, nothing special. Remember the rustler will be running on a HQ 3s lipo pack. All voted appreciated!

You're not going to get an accurate answer. People here have really strong opinions, especially about brushless/lipo stuff. People here seem to believe that anything brushless and lipo is the end all and be all of RC.

I am planning on getting a lipo soon and was hoping to keep up with my friends 3.3. Got me curious.
Thanks again Takedown.

Frankly I think you'd be able to. I've never driven a VXL but from what I hear, on 3s 60+ should be attainable. Depending on how the Jato is tuned, you may have a chance.

These cars are close:
1st it is a drivers race, it is all about getting off the line
2nd a tuners race, more so for the Jato owner

RE: Rustler VXL 3s VS Stock Jato 3.3
So, here are my thoughts... The Rustler VXL supposidly hits 65+ with a 3s lipo and very tall gearing (31/76). Thats the speed a Jato 3.3 hits stock. 31/76 isn't reasonable gearing, thats simply for speed runs and street. Not bashing or everyday practicle use. So for practicle use I think 28/86 or 23/86 would be the best gearing. With that gearing, It will not be as fast as a Jato. I'm saying right now that a Rustler might be faster off the line but definetely not top end.
The jato also has a two speed transmision that makes up for the lack of torque.
Let me know what you think,

with an 8.4V nimh stick i was very close to my friends jato...with thw 11.1V LiPo it is no match, he cant catch me. keep in mind though im in NY its 30 degrees out. the jato has to get up to 200 degrees to reach optimal performance. the jato is rated 65+ out of box, the vxl with 3s lipo for 70+ with 31/76 gearing. stock gearing i clocked my vxl at 68...thats probably where the jato will be with stock gearing so we will see once it gets warmer

Does this friend have a 2.5 or a 3.3 jato? I can't amagine even being close to a 3.3 with a 8.4v stick.

I still have a lot of faith with brushless/lipo. Right now I'm only halfway there, but I'm getting there. Right now I have the brushless, just not the lipo. Looking foward to it, I think I will see a huge difference.

RE: Rustler VXL 3s VS Stock Jato 3.3
the rusty on 3 s lipo will smoke the jato, off the line it has more torque. depending on radio and the distance raced the jato may have the upper hand. BUT IMO stock vxl rusty on 3 cells will destroy a jato 3.3.
another reason i say so is cuz I with my Xray t2r only 54 mph top end on 6 cells, smokes my friends jato 3.3. the torque on my vortex 3.5 is beastly that he doesnt want to race my xray no more. even my mf2 with my 6900 is faster off the line, but he does take me on the top end. cant wait to buy my 2s lipo.

It's looking good so far. [8D]
The reason I don't know If I will beat him off the line is because neither of us can take off at full speed. We just flip off the line. He has the Jato wheelie bar and I have the normal bend Swami. Any tips for beating him out of the line? I really don't want a new wheelie bar....

This may not be in your best interest but you could always press your swami-bar so that it would have less of a bend. If you have less angle on your swami-bar it will stick out farther and will be able to keep it from flipping a wheelie when taking off.
