So I went on the losi parts wasrehouse and did a search for xxx-t idler ...added to kart...then did a search for LDT ider...added to kart...
sure enough I have 2 of the same item in cart... So I guess the ider from RR should fit

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
Ok new to this thread. Whats the dif between the speed t and dt? I want the power of the speed but the off road ability of the dt. Im new to electrics so i dont no anything about elec motors or esc's. Ive been watching vids and it looks like the suspension needs a little worrk to. it sounds like it bottoms out over little jumps? I dont care for traxxas ( i think there over rated) so i want to stick with losi!!!

Very similar trucks. I went through the same thing you are about 9 months ago and ended up buying a speed t. Almost every piece on the chassis are the same big difference is the rear diff. The DT has a gear diff I think is great and the speed has a locker. On the speed t you can just add $5 balls in the diff and you have the same diff as an XXXT. I used a gear diff from the DT (about $25). other than the obvious differences (tires, body) the only other differences are the shock pistons and the sweet brushless set up. I changes the pistons but did not notice a difference, just add heavier fluid if you think its too soft. I bought mine brand new in the box on ebay for $200. The DT is cool but you will upgrade to brushless at some point so this is cheaper in the end. I have both the Mamba set up in a xxxt and the excelorin in the speed t. I really like them both. Really should buy the excelorin software though... the card really does not do the trick. Here is mine...

Saying I never had an issue. My 7700 does not run too hot if its geared right. I do run a fan on the esc and have no problems.

Yes, what you have is a Race Bred truck adapted to suit the new body. Better tires, a shock oil change, maybe a few other tweaks here and there, and you have a racer. I've been racing mine for about a year:

Hey guys. I'm looking for some 2.2 Wheels that would fit the Desert Truck. Any thoughts? I don't want something like a solid colored dish rim. Something like a beadlock rim or like the nitro rustler rims.

Well I did it. I posted the ESC and Motor from my new DT on Ebay. I almost ran it once but I wanted to sell the electronics in new condition so I didn't. I ordered the Castle Sidewinder 4600 Kv Motor and ESC. Anyone else drop one of these in their DT? I'm supposed to have it tomorrow so I should know this weekend. I also picked up the XXX T aluminum idler gear in case that one sandwiched plastic gear decides to go after the install.

I am running that setup. Twist the motor leads between the ESC and motor. Flip the switch on the radio for reversing fwd and rev. Buy the PC interface cable so you can really tune the ESC. Get ready for a big smile on your face. I am running 17/86 gears and it rocks. You need good batteries!!!! Chris

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
Great! Sounds like I made a good choice. I will be running 2s Lipos 5200 MaH 20-30C and 30-40C, so they should be able to feed the beast. I want to get a 3s and try it but it may be too much from what I hear. Thanks for the tips too, I had no idea how to gear it. This will be my first 1/10 scale brushless setup. I love it in my mini DT. I'll be posting info on the build soon, hopefully it all goes smoothly. What kind of runtimes do you get on your packs? Also did you put the metal idler in yet or is your stock tranny holding out?

I broke mine again. Driving in a straight line, one of the cv joints just flew apart. Brushless motors take a toll on this thing. I live it, but it breaks more than all my other trucks combined do.

RE: The Official Losi Desert Truck Thread!
did not mean anything by it at all... got cut off when my 1 year old started slamming my keyboard. I have a 4800 excelorin and a 7700 mamba. I race the 4800 and its great. I think the 6400 would be excellent as you still have plenty of room to gear it and I think it can still run 3s when you play. I have to run a 14/90 in my 7700 on our track... thats alot of gear. I run just as fast with the 4800 and its easier to drive and runs cooler. I do have to say I like the Excelorin as much as the Mamba BUT get rid of the quick adjust card and get the computer program. You can adjust it as much as the mamba. To the other guy breaking CVs.. I have only broke one on two brushless trucks in two years. Try the XXXT ones that have the large plastic CV joint, I think those are a little tougher. I run the same style as the DT on my XXXT racer without problems though.

I lost the pin in the CV joint. Locktite is your friend. All the balls in the front steering arms (you have to take the front end apart to locktire them) and CV pin. I wear out the diff outdrives and have lost an oring in the diff twice. No gears losses. Run on a paved oval, no jumping. Switch tires seem to corner the best.
