Getting bits fitted and in there now.

Motor, for now, is a KB36 8L which should put down 1.5Xs the power of the VXL. Eventually I want a CC/Neu 2650 in there for giggles.

Lipo is a Turnigy 4s 5000 30c-40c so there should be no problem supplying the current. The wires are 8 AWG, which made the soldering up of the deans plugs somewhat interesting. [8D]

Hey fellas, new to the hobby but still putting in an effort...Added some Jato wheels to mine...Makes it harder to turn but at least I'm flipping it every 10 secs....

i ended up with a 5th place finish running against xxx-t's and t4's. I would have came in 2nd or 3rd if my shock wouldnt have broken. Also my esc thermaled so i had to unplug it and plug it in. 5th out of 7 is not bad for my first race ever. Bashing is all i do .

Hey guys, so I have a velineon system on the way and was wondering if there is anything I should (or shouldn't) do before or while I'm running it. I'm intending on running it with the stock gearing and with 7-cell Nimh packs. I'll make the step to Lipo when I can afford it.

I heard somewhere that you shouldn't do a lot of high speed runs with brushless as it isn't good for the motor or something. Is this true?

Thanks!

High speed runs are fine.

Just make sure you aren't overgeared as it will melt the motor/damage the esc.

Full throttle is actually better for the esc than part throttle.

I want to purchase some Pinion and Spur gears what sizes do you guys recommend i purchase to run a MM5700? Is there a data sheet on gearing?

Things that i read that i needed and ordered already.

1. Bad Horsie Diff Lock
2. 17mm Adapters to run 1/8th Tires and rims
3. 1/8th Foams
4. Temp Gun

You guys recommend any other stuff?

So I got my Velineon yesterday and installed it. Broken so far- a differential output yoke, nerf bar, stripped a spur gear and one of the teeth on the 30T Steel idler gear came off. I hope that it doesnt break again after i fix it, can't afford it haha.

Dude, how have you managed that kind of damage so fast?

I was geared 26/83 for the majority of my runs with the VXL on a 3s with the slipper locked and only did one diff output yoke and one set of diff internals.

haha yeah I'd like to know.

Is my gearing ok? 20/86?

What does locking the slipper do and how do you do it?

I think the idler gear has been gone for a while cos its been making a racket for some time now. The broken nerf bar was from spinning off the track and hitting the racers stand.

I'm using a Tamiya pinion gear cos my traxxas one is now stuck on another motor shaft because the stupid hex grub screw is stripped on the inside. I'm beginning to hate those grub screws.

Can anyone give me an estimated run time with a 6 cell 4000mah nimh battery and a stock slash. I am thinking about buying one of these slashes but i am new to the electric scene and don't want to be sitting by the charger all day and then have 5 minutes of run time.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

my stock with 4200mAh 6 cell gets about a half hour, that's just full throttle running, lots of starts and stops would decrease the time.

just stick around and ask questions and read what people write and what other people ask. You'll be nearly up to speed in a week or so

ya i have been doing a lot of research but i haven't seen anyone talk about the run time. i heard that it is very durable and about how fast it is but from what i have read it sounds like a solid truck

yup, slash is great. Don't bother buying any upgrade (RPM) parts until you break something. I was having problems breaking my rear stub axle carriers, so I got the Traxxas aluminum ones. They seem to be holding up well.
