Pede/Rustler or RC18MT
I'm looking for a new RC. I've decided to not get my Mini-T running again and to just get a new car. I'm torn between the Pede/Rustler and the RC18MT. I want it to be under $200 with battery from towerhobbies. I have a Piranha Digital Peak Charger so I wouldn't have to buy a charger. I just want a car that will give me the least amount of problems.
Pros or Pede/Rustler:
Bigger
More Durable (over RC18MT) correct me if I'm wrong...
My friend has one so if I broke something chances are he would had the part
RPM Parts
Cons or Pede/Rustler:
More expensive in general (Batteries/Motor/ESC/Parts/Upgrades)
2wd (maybe not because I wouldn't go through as many tires)
Titian 12T 550 isn't the most reliable motor
Pros of RC18MT:
Cheaper
4WD
RPM Parts
Can be a great basher racer or speed demon
Cons of RC18MT
Smaller (maybe not a con)
Needs more upgrades out of the box
As of now I'm leaning towards the RC18MT

IMO the 18MT (or T) is fun as HECK, at not very much out the door, with a few upgrades, you have one heckofa basher, if you have a basement, you could have a "bmx" track down there

Here is what I would do. Save up, $24 extra and buy the Slash. It's 100% worth it. If your not willing to wait the extra week or so, get the Stampede. At slow speeds, the Stampede is funner. When your going over 40 mph, that's where the Rustler comes in handy.

If I may comment on the Titan motors. I don't have a problem with them. Mine lasted me half a year. You have to break them in, and gear them down. They are decent motors.

The Titan motors will last with proper gearing (drop about 3 teeth on the pinion gear) and a mild voltage, like just using a 6 cell pack. A guy at the lhs kept his running for a little over a year before it died out, but he seriosly babied it, like only occasional runs. Breaking it in before the 1st run would also help.

If I get a Pede/Rustler/Slash then I will have to get a new charger since mine can only charge up to 3 amps using AC.

get the slash, battery and a charger. Its so worth it. The slash is better than an xl-5 rustler or stampede anyway cause it is vxl specs.

I was going to get some Ener-G 4600s. I don't want to get a crappy 3000 when for about $10 more I can get a much better pack.

In your first post you said a car that will give you the least amount of problems. Having owned a RC18 and currently owning a number of traxxas cars and trucks. My vote goes to the rustler/pede/slash. Simple drivetrain layout and tough as nails. Buy whatever battery you like. The charger doesn't matter as long as it is the correct type for the battery you buy. I NEVER charge at anything over 2.5A.

Bad idea going with the 18mt. I have both an 18t and a stampede and the 18t has lately been giving me nothing but problems. It takes a lot of money to get them to be fast and not so sloppy in the parts. Save the money and get a slash.

My past rustler was VERY far from problem free. My friends pede had to become almost all RPM to finally take the beating that we gave it. The RC18MT is all around cheaper and around x-mas I might get a slash.
