Default Scale Truck

I am looking for a Scale offroader..

Something that looks realistic.. Has Moderate offroad ability that does not cost a fortune like a Tamiya Highlift/Hilux..

I have been thinking of the Tamiya XB Cayenne Built on the DF-01 chassis but would like to here other suggestions..

Ideally, the chosen truck would have to have some scale realism and a selection of possible shells.. in case I get bored..

The Ideal rig would be a mix of scale realism with some Minor rock crawling capability....

Would a DF-01 allow larger shocks and springs for a tad more flex ??

Check out RC4WD.com, they have lots of scale truck stuff including custom chassis rails. Not cheap but worth looking at.

Check out the Tamiya Pajero. Awesome scale looks and very good offroad. Can easily be modded for better offroad performance.

I'm in the same boat, and I'm kind of interested in the upcoming Axial SCX-10. Might be a good compromise, I'll have to see it in person.

Since you said "scale".. I'd say go for a Tamiya Pajero.. it has hard plastic shell so you get details that's not available in most RCs...

Back in Tower now.. at $190 or so...

You sould wait for Axial to release their SCX10 1.9 Scaler.

Here is a link for more info about it. http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=141014

I bought my Pajero at Ultimate hobbies for $155.00. Tower is getting a little rediculous with their prices. I do eveything I can to avoid buying from them.

What is the difference between the XC and the CC ??

What shells fit them ??

The One I am looking at buying has had some offroad mods done to it and it looks like the owner has put larger rims and tyres off a TLT onto it and modded the Body... and I would like to be able to return it to stock condition..

I believe that XC01 is the RTR version of the CC01.

If you were to restore it, you might be able to fit a Wrangler body on it from the new CR01 Jeep. If my suspicions are correct, the CR01 wrangler has the exact same body as the XC/CC Wrangler.

Take a look.

Not only does it feature the same square headlights, but it also has the same foglights.

I am trying to decide between the mini rock crawler or the pajero. but I am leaning towards the pajero because of scale looks, and i can build it.

No, the high lifts bodies won't fit, unles you cut them down, too long of a wheel base.
I have seen King blackfoot and blackfoot Xtreme bodies on them. With some slight modifications, they could be turned into F-150's. They were modeled after the '92-'96 F-150 anyway. I'm currently working on a '92 F-150 Nite scaler.

If you need the longer wheelbase, get the Tamiya VW Racing Touareg....

What are the wheelbases of the Touareg(xc) and pajero(cc)?
I know that the BF Xtreme body is 6 3/4 inches wide at the fenders and it has a 10 inch wheelbase.

Dammit the Pajero slipped through my Fingers... lost the war by $12AUD...

So looks like I am back with the Cayenne....(Unless some one else can suggest a moderately capable Scaler that wont cost the earth)

IF I do go the DF-01, What suspension options would I have for increased Wheel flex, as I am not after a speed machine, but a trail truck that will be just at home on Sand as it is crawling over tree roots but doesn't look like a Crawler..
