my 5B to 5T progression
Some of you may remember seeing my original 5B thread, in which i bought a 5b roller that came to me like this:
Once i put it all together, it looked like this:
and after a year, it finally came to look like this:
So in the past months, i really enjoyed my 5b, but i wanted something new. I didnt want electric, and i surely wasnt going to go back to Nitro. So what to do? My friend Jason and I seemed to get the same idea at the same time. Why not change my B to a T. Jason just so happened to have a clear 5T body that he wasnt using, and we worked out a trade. So here we go.
First off, i bought a big ole box of plastic parts from 5th Scale Canada
then i stripped my trusty old 5B down to the minimum (dig that wood paneling)
As you can see, i put some Silverback rims on her. Those are actually 5T front rims, the rear rims were back ordered (lovely). Nevertheless, back to work.
I got rid of that terrible de-anodized rear chassis, and got a nice, shiney rear chassis from Mr. Modified-RC
Then it all started falling in to place rather quickly:
Once all the was done, i finally got my back ordered rims, but my tires were back-ordered. I guess MXTs are very popular :cursing: So more waiting to come. In the mean time, i picked up some paint and ordered some decals from fleabay.
and now finally, here is how she stands. (drum roll please?)
Thanks so much for looking. I know its a long thread, but trust me, its not as long as the wait i had for back ordered parts Thanks to Brad from 5th Scale Canada for being such a great retailer. Heres a list of whats on my Red Bull 5T

There is a link on the baja forum. I know Dale Gribble on this forum did it. If you want all the stock parts it costs like $450 with body.

RE: my 5B to 5T progression
yep its not cheap at all. Wheels & Body are the most expensive bits. if you can get your hands on a used set of wheels (lots of people switch out the stock rims & tires) you can save a bundle. Also there are aftermarket companies that sell the 5T body for quite a bit less.
