Rubber boots for axles?
I have been out of the 1/5 scale hobby in a while and just came back with a MT and MB. Wow..things have really changed in a few years. Anyway, does anybody make a rubber boot to go over the dogbones at the diff end or the axel end? I guess I'm looking for the cvd look. Thanks!!

"Protector for the universal joints, reduces wear at the drive shafts significantly.
Please cut as needed according to the diameter of your drive shaft."
also (slightly different shape, flat end instead of conical shaped like one above)
04412, Protective bellow for dogbones, 2pcs.

Madwax, does the boots have enough give to get them to slide over the dogbones and the pins, or do you have to cut them? Do they help much on dogbone wear?

RE: Rubber boots for axles?
I don't know, the Leopard came with the boots prefitted. The Leopard has the ball drive system so it's not like the older transmission type (slits on the drive bolt/diff bolt) With the Leopard ball drive version it looks like it slips over the whole bolt until it's at the thick end.
Don't know if it'll increase life of axles/balls but I guess it will, I usually clean out and re-grease all four sides once a week. At least the boots will allow grease to stay inside and grit free. Haven't used the Leopard enough (engine has gone back)
But for 12 Euros save on time, frequent greasing, removing arm from socket joint to remove dogbone, and wear.

RE: Rubber boots for axles?
Iam not sure who posted this info it was a while ago
here is a pic of the vw ones
I have not used them myself, I get mine at the local auto wreckers. 4cylinder early model Toyota Camry's have a rubber boot on the wiring harness near the alternator that works great
Look at those pictures:

Would you believe those are speedometer cable boot from Volkswagen available at any VW or Audi dealer under Part Number: 443 906 102 G
Give them a try, work great

deeppaul: Yes the boots will fit over the dogbone pins. Just help yourself and give both the boot and the dogbone some grease or something prior to mounting.

RE: Rubber boots for axles?
My Sportsline came with nice boots prefitted. I'm sure they would fit the MT5 just fine.
Why FG puts the boots on their cheapest car and not their only off road truck........

I didn't order anything special with my Sportsline. They just came with it. The Sportsline cost me $765 bucks from FGPerformance. I had to pay extra for the front brakes and the sway bars but they were really cheap since I bught them the same time as the car.
But the universal drive shafts were stock on the Sportsline. The MT5 came with cheap dogbones.
Hope you didn't have to pay more for something I got for free.

Lamb nipples....yes you heard right. Go to a feed and grain. Ask for lamb nipples which are used in feeding by bottle. These nipples are thick and will last a long time.

No my sportsline touringcar came with the balldrives. Balldrives are only an option on the off-roaders and well worth the money if you get it together with the MT'-5/MB ect.
Hobbytech charges only €60 if you order balldrives from the beginning but a set costs €100 and then you have to change it yourself.

I see you didn't really read my post.
Feed & grain stores carry these nipples for big ass bottles to feed lambs. These are thick & tough. I have used the same two on my WCM for the past two seasons. NO wear showing yet. Use what ever you prefer, but don't knock what has been used in 1/4 scale racing for many years. See the pic below of one installed on a Pro1.
