Yes best bet is get a 2wd for now. The MCD complete is about $2800 with Tuned pipe and the FG is about the same with 4x4. I don't see the FG 4x4 kits coming down in price anytime soon. There is only one company making them. Usually it takes more than one company making something for the price to come down.

4wd is nice, but I enjoy my 2wd FG MT just as much. It's not worth $1500 for me, and If I did feel the need to get 4wd I'd sooner spend $2000 or so and get an MCD truck, throw some electronics I already have in it, and have 2 great trucks.

I feel the same way My mt is so powerfull and fast, I can do a rolling wheely at about 8mph. I have to be honest, I do enjoy it more on road than on lose gravel wet grass or any low traction surface, but I will never pay so much for an adaptation, thouh I would pay the MCD price for 4x4 from the factory. I bet you dint know you have to lose 2 front shocks to adapt that kit in the pics??????

What do you think the calculated cost of building a 4wd FG truck starting with the kit first? Excluding the engine, servos and radio gear.

Kamitiro Modelworks. This is the name of the firm producing the belt drive 4wd conversion. But now it seems that they released a chain 4wd conversion.I guess the price looks reasonable too.

The kamitiro prices are listed but the fg parts are not included in that price. That is where the price starts to get up there. You need a diff, drive shafts, drive cups, gears, layshaft, and quite a few other parts.
The kits are nice and with the new chain drives coming it should be better. I am waiting for the chain conversion to finish the marder race I am converting.
