Baja 5b Question...
Hey everyone,
My buddie just got a new Baja 5b today and both him and I specialize in Nitro engines so this gas stuff is a new thing. Now the carb is still at factory settings and we ran 1 tank through it. It bogged out real bad until it got going then it was fine. The temperature outside right now is around 20 degrees. So should we lean or richen the carb. The book suggests that in the event the car acellerates (or boggs down) poorly, to then lean the low-end an 1/8th to a 1/4 turn. But it didn't specify the weather conditions. So that's were we get stumped. So any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks- Matt

RE: Baja 5b Question...
I would not lean it first, try richening first always then if its worse lean it. When I first piped mine I had a bad bog right out of the hole and it needed to be richened. What I mean is its always safer to try rich before lean, because if your running problem is due to being lean already then you could actually have a really lean run and possibly score the piston/cylinder. I am sure that once you have more experience with the running characteristics of these cars you will know just from the way its running wether its lean or rich but I know I am not there yet.

RE: Baja 5b Question...
Most definitely!! AIRWORKS is right on the money!! I have seen way to many people destroy their nitros by saying " I need to lean it a little" and then they give it a 1/4 turn or better and then cook the eng. Very small adjustments is the way to go.

RE: Baja 5b Question...
If you still have the stock exhaust RTR... start by removing the stinger and pull all the baffle packing from inside the exhaust...
It will help that bottom end also... or get an Xcan good power from a stock motor...
