Default FG Hydros vs Tuning Brakes

I may be getting a 4x4 Comp. MT soon, just wondering what the thoughts on the brake options are. Are the hydros worth the cash?

All I can say is that I am glad I opted for the hydraulic brakes on my FG Baja Comp. I say if you are going to spend that kind of money you might as well go all the way. If you do go with the cable brakes and the later decide to go with the hydraulic brakes it will end up costing you more then the difference in the two versions. I have never tired the FG cable brakes but I have tried another brand of cable brake on my Firehammer MT and I can honestly say I much prefer the hydraulic brakes.

Mm yeah thats what I was thinking, since I'm spending the money I might as well go all the way. You haven't run into any reliability issues with the hydros have you?

Hydros all the way, easy to bleed and then you leave em. I've got kpd"s fr and rear and i wouldn't give them up for nowt. I had front cables originally and I can attest hydros are the best.
As for not needed unless your racing I don't agree, I've a much higher level of control and drivability, I can bias front to rear and I can lock all 4 in an emergency on any surface.

Go for the hydros...it's a no brainer

I have had no reliability issues yet, they haven’t leaked of given me any problems. I have read some post where people have had a hard time bleeding the brakes or having them leak but I can honestly say I haven’t had those problems. These are my first set of hydraulic brakes so I was a little apprehensive about the install, but everything went super smooth.

I keep hearing how racers have returned to cable brakes. I don't use the brakes on my cars at all, so I wouldn't know!

Brakes are for wussies.

Until you run with someone who's got them and they spank you severly [sm=punching.gif] then I do believe you'd want to join us wussies

I've had both and now will have air brakes.

FG Cables work well once they are adjusted. If one goes the other will still work but you need a good servo.

Hydros work well once they are set up as well. Great wow factor and don't need as much of a torque servo. I had KPD ones on my Supercross.

True about spending the $$. If you're going for it get the hydros and if you don't like then you can always switch later. This is why I went with airbrakes for my Cleon.

Yup, Elcon has made them for their Cleon and the Hormanns first and then FG's. The HPI Baja being last.
