Ed

Jet 1A quality is fabulous, its just they are not a drop in fit and being spring-air, storage of the model is more difficult.
You can make a lock off system for the gear and clamp the tube with the gear up, split the wing joint and then seal...its just easier to put the gear up and it stay there.
I would not buy new gear, in this market everyone would "take your shirt off" on the new Jet 1A gears SH value, so you pay 1.5 times for the gear.
Once its in and you have a routine to store the gear you will be fine, the gear is just as bullet proof as the Behotec

Hi Ed,

I also had to Dremel the rib a bit to fit in the Electron gears. Also Jet 1A legs, they fit perfect. Just need to use 7mm spacers to adjust the length of the legs because of the correction made on the offset of one of the gears supports.

Grtz, Michel.

Dave, lesson learned! Flies very nice now.
I have a buddy that uses the manual's 225cg & loves it, but he flies right-side-up mainly with a few split S's & rolls and avoids sustained inverted maneuvers (not his style). I found it hard to slow-roll or 4 point at this cg because it required too much down-elev to maintain inverted level flight.

If you can , put some carbon roving stands to strengthen the plywoodf that you removed
on a hard landing i had the ply wood twist under load and there are signs of the ply pressing against the wing skin just where you dremeled
there is no strength issue of the wing , just the flexibility of the ply pressing against the wing

Mine was close to the 225 (never balanced it any other way than fingers) and it did everything you liked as the videos. Depends how hard you drive the tail end controls I guess.

Just working towards a final fit out on a std install P-120SX UF. This is the wood work with two coats of ZAP 40 finishing resin and a light blow over of primer

Few more shots of various stages. Nose gear door is 48mm wide. From this fit I'll reduce the width 3/4mm and length 2mm

Elevator Servo.
How to fit in other servo's than a JR 8411 19mm wide. I use the Savox SV1273TG 20.2mm wide.
Needed to Dremel a bit to make it fit, be careful and do not grind the fiberglass surface.

Would have been easier to use a thinner servo........ I used 5955's with no issues & no grinding required

I didn't install them. Seems like they are designed for the old type wing or for the Lightning but definitely not for the UF wing. I glued balsa sheets in the bay.

They are the old mould from the Classic flash wing which is thicker. If you use them (never have) sand the bottom off and use the sides with the curve in.
People rarely fitted them even in the CF, so a new mould was not made.

Okay….

So i guess they are only for cosmetic looks then, and don't have any use??

Mainly cosmetic, stop some cr*p getting into the wing if you fly on muddy grass. No problem with the wing and the leg mostly covers the opening. Leg cover plates even more!

I have them in my CF, but none of the UF I have built have them. I've only seen one in England with them in!

I got 4 more flights on my UF on Sunday. Moved the CG to 230 and it flies even better. One annoyance is that my wing bolts pierced my saddle tanks and caused a leak. I noticed if as I was fueling up for flight 5.

Hey Dave, I know you posted it a while ago, and don't feel like sorting through 148 pages to find it, but could you please review your setup throws for aileron, and elevator please? Both in low and high rates and expo settings you have. I used the recommended setup per the manual, and it's still a bit to much throw on those surfaces.

Thanks!

Tom

Tom

My settings are the manual ones, I like it sharp.
I tone it down with Expo and don't use rates.

Regards

Dave

Dude, I will be happy to set that up for ya! Just drop it off at my house on your way to work

You can pick mine up at the same time and build it for me as repayment. Deal?
