Dave,

No thanks, i still got one laying uncut so going to give it an other try. The other canopy will be painted so no need for the tub.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi,

I am setting up the electronics on my CARF Flash (not the Ultra Flash). I have a 10CAG Futaba radio with a14ch receiver. As there are limited mixes on the radio, the 'crow' setup is not possible. Hence, wanted to know if it is possible to land it safely without the 'crow' setting.

Thanks,
Shivan

Im not familiar with the 10cag, I have a 12FGA, but I can't imagine not being able to do crow on the 10C. I almost guarantee you it has the ability to do it.

Thanks for your reply. My radio setting is as under:
1. The radio allows only channel 1-8 for p.mix
2. ch1with y connector for ailerons
3. ch2 and ch8 for elevator (pmix1)
4. ch3 throttle -turbine
5. ch4 rudder with y connector for nose gear
6. Ch 5 retracts
7. Ch 6 and ch 7 for flaps (pmix 2)
8. 2 p.mixes yet remain unused, but the 10cag allowes mixes only for channels 1-8.

If possible please suggest another way to setup where I can include the crow settings.

Thanks,
Shivan

first you must get rid of the Y for ailerons, it will never work that way. The ailerons need to be on their own channel. I just looked up the manual for you radio online.
Page 63 specifically lists "airbrake/butterfly/crow"

The 10c is basically the same as a 9c which I had many years ago. I don't remember having to use mixes to use two elevator servos or two aileron servos but my memory is not that good so if you can't get everything to work with the limited channels, I would put the flaps on one channel and use an MSA 10 (http://www.futaba-rc.com/accessories/futm4155.html) . You could do the same for elevators and ailerons for that matter but I would do the flaps first and see if you could get it all to work from there.

On Futaba radios you set up crow on the Airbrake function, all the settings are there including elevator compensation, slow in slow out if you require and setting on a side slider if you so wish.

About a month ago I crashed my UF, after 150 flights. The accident was very strange, but after thinkig about it I now believe it ocurred due to my carrelessness and overconfidence. I was doing dirty passes, gear down and half flap, when suddenly, in the last right turn before the strip the the right wing started to dip,. I mean the plane increased by itself the banking angle to a point where the wing simply snapped, tuned the plane upside down and hit earth. Of course the UF was totalled. I only saved the gear, electronics and the tubine luckily had just a big dent in the casing and was repaired quickly by JetCat in Gremany. At first I thought about a servo malfunction or radio interference, but since, after inspection, I found nothing at fault, concluded I was flying the plane too slow. Lesson learned: don't get too overconfident....

Of course I immediaely bought a new UF, in the Swiis colours. I maidened it today, not without some misgivings, but the UF just flew perfectly. I made 4 flights and all the landings were perfect. Now I keep my fingers crossed and prevent being overconfident. I am attaching some pics of the new bird. I am a really happy owner

Well I finally maiden my ultra flash over the weekend, and got most of the bugs worked out except my braking problem. Every time I land, and brake it wants to go to the right hard most likely due to the right wheel locking up, I tried greasing up the wheels, put less air then usual in the tank, made sure the airlines are exactly the same length, but the problem still exist. It's ruining my tires, struts, and damaging the plane. I am using the stock Behotec gears with the valve that controls the gears and the brakes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So at maximum braking you can turn both wheels and they feel the same?
Have you checked the tracking? Both wheels slightly toe in?

They both feel the same, and yes the wheels are toed in. A friend told me to add a proportional brake vale and keep it separate form the retract and that might help. Has any one else experience any issues with supplied valve?

Put the model on the ground and have a look at the brake lines when the leg trails...does it kink one side?
