Best all around sports jet?
Which would get your vote taking into consideration performance, looks, build quality, value for money, day to day practicality, flying site versatility?
My vote would probably go to the Ultra Flash.....where does yours go?

I am 100% sure you nailed it first time. The UF is a huge step forward on the Inspiration you have, my guess is the wing and tail section is the difference looking at the family linage. Main undercarriage position also, the UF is better balanced on the nose wheel so cross wind taxing is easier.
I knew I liked my UF the moment I test flew it in the rain last October, but the last month when I have had a chance of a few more flights has fully sealed it's position as the best all around sports jet I have ever flown. Rock solid, fast or slow, best balance of controls, best slow speed handling ever, fast too!
I'm bias, but the order book for the April/May period tells me others have fallen in and a waiting list will form once everyone hits the go button...

I loved my Bandit ARF, but I always felt it was delicate, took too long to assemble and I can have two UF for the imported cost of one BARF. Also the "dead" elevator feel meant large expo differences. Slow high drag flying was BARF only territory until the UF came along.

RE: Best all around sports jet?
Hi Rob,
FWIW the question ' whats the best all round sports jet' is really down to what you want out of the model. If you want to go fast(many do), safely, with confidence that the model isn't going to break then the Super Bandit is my weapon of choice. I have done approx 350 flights on mine and it is still going strong. On the other hand its a big build as its no ARF and of course its BVM priced. With the BARF at least they are easier to build but they aren't as strong and can't be thrashed to the same extent. With the release of the UF, its hard to ignore as its half the price of a BVM Plane, an ARF and there is no doubt they fly extremely well. I also hear from various sources they are extremely tough, no surprise as the previous CF was tough as well.
But lets not forget larger jets. I have been flying an Ultra Lightning a lot recently and I think its brilliant. I find the extra size enables me to fly all the manouvres more accurately, in fact at the last classic jet meet someone commented that it would put up a very respectable performance in F3A aerobatics. Of course if we are talking about larger models then we can't ignore the Ultra Bandit. Yes it may be bloody expensive but it is a brilliant model to own. One thing to bear in mind with the larger jets is that they are a real PITA to transport and also they drink fuel. Every session I have with my UL means I burn between 20-30 litres so it is costly to operate.
One final thought, the last time I was in the BVM factory I was talking to BV himself and he said if he could only own one jet it would be an F100 in a sports scheme so maybe thats the ultimate sport model
EDIT: Regarding the Tuono, I believe they are available as ARF's in a choice of 2/3 schemes.
Just my thoughts.
Geoff.

RE: Best all around sports jet?
Some good pros and cons, thanks for the suggestions. My personal reasoning for the UF is artf, easy avioniics fit, good bang for buck (vfm), grass field performance, flying speed range, handling, build quality, fits popular engine sizes, easy to transport/assemble/disassemble, looks goods and so on. I do struggle to find an area where it falls down.
I suppose it can come down to personal taste in the end, some of the other jets are very good in maybe one or 2 areas but maybe not quite as 'all around'.
Rob.

Tams F-16 hands down.
2 minute flying field setup, flies like an F-16 (pull hard, snap roll, spin), can't beat the price, looks good, excellent manual, can take a wide arrange of engines, super slow scale-like landings, low parts count, strong airframe, high quality epoxy-glass............goes on and on. And yes, it can take several beatings.
Only problem, it may not be available for a while.

Funny no one mention the smaller jets such as Habu 32 or any other Kolibri/P-20 convertion. They are still real jets with flaps, retracts, breaks, sound and smell but in a smaller envelope capable of flying from vritually any RC-airfield, not only from the larger fields or those with paved runways.

RE: Best all around sports jet?
this thread is to open ended .. its like a asking a group of guys at a local club what the best glow fuel powered sport plane is ... many will argue its the Hobbico Avistar, others will mentions names of pattern planes, others, 3d performers, etc ....
There is a big difference between what the best sport jet is for lazy Sunday flying (such as an Elan), or fly the piss out of it high speed on point speed machine (like a UF or Super Bandit) ... then there are the in-between planes like the BobCat Comp .. takes a beating, flies fast and hard, lands slow .. not good for point aerobatics however ... and so on and so on ..
we need categories and assign point values on a 1-10 basis ..
best landing
fastest
most durable
most precise
best looking
cost/value rating
