Futaba S-BUS extension to PowerBox Competition SRS
I am setting up a PowerBox Competition SRS with two Futaba FASST receivers. Each receiver connects to the Powerbox via a S-BUS cable. The S-BUS cables that came with the power box are 12" long. Is there any reason I should be concerned is I was to extend one of the receivers by another 24" ? This would be to my "redundant" receiver. This would be the only connection, and it would carry the signal to the Powerbox via the S-BUS, and also via this cable the PowerBox back powers the receiver ...
My inclination is to think that there should be no issue if I use twisted medium gauge extension ... any opinions to the contrary ?

There is no 'real' current flow down the Sbus cable only a data stream. Length of cable has no influence in our applications however I would suggest sticking with the twisted cable to ensure no outside RF interferance.

perfect thats what I was looking for ! ...
I know its only a data stream ( and back current to power RX ), however some systems may be more prone to having a signal affected when exceeding certain lengths ..
For the the 2nd RX is just a peace of mind anyway ( paranoia relief ) lol

never can get too much safety
I'n my tomahawk Hawk I placed two R6203 receivers in optimum places along the fuselage, the cables are like 1.5 meter long, and works perfect.
The SBUS signal from the receivers are 3V signals, but the drivers are pretty strong and the data stream uses parity check so there is some (limited) check of the data received. The stream is also repeated every 16 mS, so it won't take long before another burst of (hopefully correct) data reaches the powerbox.
So just go ahead

I wouldnt class 3M long of one cable that controls half the jet sensible, I wonder how many extension leads most modellers will use there?

Im running the S.BUS cable from the RX only to a Powerbox SRS. I am not powering anything besides the RX itself via the connection. .. plus the long extension in my case would be only for the 2nd backup receiver.
As to your point however, this is why I think Futaba has S.bus junction boxes and power hubs ...

Hi wojtek,
Can you attach a picture showing the directions of sbus connectors in receivers and slots being used for futher calrity? And there is a problem that servo leads slots in competition are of JR style wheres as I am using Futaba extensions and considering to trim Futaba male connectors to insert in the competition JR type female slots?
My setup is 18MZ, 2 x R7008SB recievers & PB Competition srs. And then I had a query that from which receiver transmitter shall show the telemetry feedback? From both may be?

Plus how to bind two receivers together? bind one by one by using single receiver mode in transmitter or bind one by one using dual receiver mode while both receiver in mode A? &from which receiver it shall show the telemetry figures?

In the absence of Woj I can answer these questions for you.
The sBus connectors go into sBus8 connector of the Rx with the signal wire (grey) facing up.
The servo wires connect to the PB, with the PB held sBus connectors down all the servos are signal left.
The 7008 Rx 1 should be in 7+sBus mode ie press in your button then switch on power when green and red flash release button. The led should flash once in rotation press the button again, the led should flash twice in rotation, in this condition press the button for more than 2seconds, recycle the power. This is now RX 1 which when bound to the Tx will transmit all the telemetry. Telemetry is transmitted from sBus2 which is the horizontal port under sBus8.
Rx2 should have the same treatment except you will press the button three times resulting in four flashes in rotation, Rx2 is now in 9to16 channel mode 7+sBus, this can now be bound to the Tx as Rx2 but will not transmit telemetry.
You have probably realised you can only achieve 14 channels from the PB Comp, but by rearranging outputs you can get 16 by direct connection to the Rx for some channels.

That’s correct, PB are quite specific in that the PB should be driven from the sBus/8 connection and not sBus2.

Sounds wonderful and perfect. thank you so much. now mapping is left in PB Comp srs, which I assume shall be not that difficult and may be more interesting. How about 2 Ailerons & 2 Elevators & Rudder+Nose wheel & 2 Flaps hooking into match channels to save channels? Or just simply connect separately?

It is wonderful, be even better when Futaba give us an 18 channel PWM Rx!!
You have described exactly how it should be set up………….for the purposes of or CAA exemption certificate it states that each paired control should be driven from a separate RX and power supply, therefore Right aileron and right elevator must be driven from RX1 ie channel 1-8 and aileron and elevator Left are driven from Rx2 ie channel 9-16. To compliment this the PB has totally separate power supplies to each surface.

So in case of match channels, can we reverse one of the two servos or shall have to use the slot outside the silver frame of match channels?

& then one dirty thing. Can't insert futaba male connectors into SRS JR type female slots . Need to peel & trim the thin linefrom the futaba male connectors

While using 18MZ + R7008SB receivers + TELEMETRY ON from transmitter, the frames losses on PB Competition from both receivers are like 900 & 1000. The moment I turned the TELEMETRY OFF frame losses came down to 5 Or 20 Or 25. Any comments?

The only problem I have been able to locate so far is
MORE FRAME LOSSES = While telemetry is ON
LESS OR ACCEPTABLEFRAME LOSSES = While telemetry is OFF
Shall apreciate more info on this from other users...
