Electric L/G set for a Boomerang Intro
I have been flying my Boomerang Intro for some time and cannot see a reason why i should let go of this extremely nice flyer. Only hickup is the L/G, i have a prolinx set which suffered a rough landing and as long as i am doing some repairs i tought of changing the landing gear set to an electric one.
Could anyone recommend a reliable drop fit electric set including oleos wheels and brakes (or maybe retracts only if i can fit the prolinx legs). Idea is also to keep budget low, otherwise it would not make much sense....
Appreciate your input on this.
Regards,

My suggestion would be to go for the eFlite 120 size retracts. I used them initially for my Futura 1.9 which is much bigger than a Boomerang Intro but they didn't work out as the struts were just a little too heavy combined with the brake line attached. For the lighter struts you would use on an Intro they should be perfect.
You MAY have to redrill the trunion block to accept a different size pin as they come with wire (4mm I think). If your struts are fairly large diameter you may need to go one step further like I did an drill the hole off centre so the retract closes properly with the strut fitted. For 3 retracts you pay £160 ish new.

A couple of pics to help...note the offset 8mm hole in the trunion block. Done due to the width of the strut. Have sent you PM as well.

What ever happened to Horizon bringing out larger ones? They were all chat and smiles about bigger versions coming out in a couple of months and that was a year ago.

Yeah. It is a shame they didn't because their service in UK through Horizon is second to none which is what you need for retracts (esp with my landing skills). LADO and Electron and the only other solid options I know of unless you want you air retracts converted.

You need to look at what size pin fits the LADO retract and what size pin fits the leg. If they are different you'll need to get an adapter made up.
I had to do that for my LADO 999 series retracts. Retract has 12.7mm hole and the leg has 8mm. The nice chaps at LADO made the adapters for me for a few extra Euro.

So you would need to cut off top part of the leg, then drill and tap.
Might be better to forget the cheaper eFlite retracts (which would require this modification to the legs) and go for LADO or Electron retracts which will probably just fit out of the box if you get the right size.
