Default Dreamworks Electric Gear and Brake Systems

Dreamworks is pleased to present our Pro-Drive electric retract and Pro-Brake Electric Brake systems. Over a year in development, our new electric series retracts and control modules are the most advanced electric gear systems available. Using our highly regarded Pro-Link retract units, we developed a strong and reliable drop-in electric drive actuator along with two distinct versions of our gear system control module. If you currently own a set of Pro-Link Taurus Series retracts, we now have drop-in electric conversion packages available. Sidewinder and Hercules series are due to release soon.

The "PRO" system includes our durable T6 Taurus series retract frame and trunion, our Pro-Drive Taurus specific actuators and our feature packed "PRO" system control module. Our PRO Control System offers a host of features over our "Basic" module.

Eliminating the need for air tanks, tubing, valves and gauges, our Pro-Brake system requires only one wire lead per wheel. Since the Pro-Brake system uses magnetic field to create braking force, brake application is matched at each wheel. No longer do you have to deal with wheel pull or flat spotting! Pro-Brake adapts to the Intairco Split Rim wheels ranging from 3" to 4", 2 1/4 and 2 5/8" are due to release soon.

PRO Features:

-Control by Single channel (Gear operation and brake operation combined on single channel) or separate channels for gear and brake.

-Control 3 landing gears. Programmable independent delay for each gear in UP and DOWN sequence.

-Control of electric brake:

Proportional and adjustable maximum brake force
Continuous operation or pulsed mode for "ABS" effect, 10 levels of pulse ratio.
Brake Limiter to set max brake force

-Control of steering servo

Allow to use same channel as the rudder despite different center, independant travel gain and direction on steering servo from rudder servo. The steering servo center, travel and sense of movement can be adjusted.
The steering servo is centered and deactived during gear operation and gear UP phase.

-Door control output:

3 independent servo outputs for door control.
Each output can be programmed in 3 different positions (Gear UP, Gear Down and Gear Moving phase).
Servo Switch-off. Door servos can be deactivated after movement to prevent the posibility of servo burnout on a jammed door. Deactivation time can be programmed.

-Manual mode:

Provides the ability cycle the gear manually for testing during setup phase, movement can be stopped and reasumed in any position.
Each drive motor can be independently run in any direction and stopping in any position for checking clearance, etc.

-Motor Log:

Cycle counter for scheduled maintenance.

-Easy setup: All adjustments are done through a Xicoy data terminal.

-Electronic switch for the main battery.

This is FANTASTIC news! Electric gear and brake systems will really simplify set ups that are a bit tight and air containers just get in the way. Nicely done Dreamworks!

I'm in for a set once the 11mm trunions come out. The 6mm steering pin is fine though.

Hi Todd
The units look great.
Just a principle question, at the end of the directional cycle (gear up/gear down), are you using over/stall current or encoders?

Regards

John

Cycle is based on a 1.5A stall limit. If retract(s) are stalled, a retract switch cycle will reset them.

Fender, I have the stall limit data but will provide some easy to understand length/weight limitations tomorrow.

Can the older non split rim Intairco wheels work with the brake? Just drilling holes through rim to locate metal plate?

What is the heaviest weight aircraft you would use the brakes with on 4" wheels?

Performed some stall testing this morning with weights to provide an easy to understand limit...

With a 5.25" long 3.1oz strut, weight loaded at the axle - Stall was achieved at 38oz (2.375lbs, 1077g)
With a 8" long 6oz strut, weight loaded at the axle - Stall was achieved at 17.3oz (1.08lbs, 490.44g)
Transit time is roughly 6 seconds.

Brake OD is 36mm, ID is 14.5mm.
I am not sure these can be adapted to the older Intairco solid wheel design. Brake hub sizing is the same but I am not sure where the brake disc holes match up to the lightening holes drilled into these rims. I dont have a set here to check. Disc hole location is 13mm from axle center and 26mm center between holes if you wish to check.

The largest aircraft we tested the Pro-Brakes on was using a 3.5" wheel at 42lbs with more than adequate braking. I Believe 45lbs at 4" should not be an issue but we have not had access to anything in this range to test as of yet. Brake performance has proven equal to if not better than the pneumatic version in holding power. Braking does improve after the wear in as well.

You didnt mention what brand wheels? These are specifically for the Intairco split rim main wheel sets. Our Pro-Brake 36mm hub is for Intairco 3" to 4" wheel sets. Pro-Brakes for the Intairco 2 1/4 and 2 5/8" rims will be out in a few weeks.

Just to clarify a point on the PRO version controller -

Our PRO version gear control module is programmed using a Xicoy (Gaspar) Sbus style data terminal (GSU) supplied with many popular engine brands. You only need to purchase one of these terminals to program the PRO module if you don't currently own one. There are two versions available, the standard size and the new Mini GSU/Analyzer. The older version with a cat 5 type connector is not compatible.

You can produce a set for 3" BVM wheels? How much it would cost?

Thanks in advance

I bought a Pro-Link gear and brake set with my PST Reaction...don't know which model these are. Will your new electric system retrofit to these retracts and brakes? Mike
