Default SM Hawk Maiden in Oklahoma

Finally got to fly my large SM Hawk yesterday. It fly's real smooth and lands like butter!!

It's powered by a Kingtech 180G. Very impressive motor. In cruise I was flying about 1/3 - 1/2 throttle (on a cure that is 1/4 throttle it is putting out 1/4 thrust and so on). Once cleaned up it's very similar to my ultra flash in just a little heaver in the turns.

Smoke is using the new single stick with deflector from dreamworks and I can say it puts out more smoke than any other I have had so far.

Here are some pics.

I have the SM Hawk 100 and the madien went perfect as well. Got about 20 flights on it now and I haven't had to touch it.

Looks great Don.

Where were you flying? Are you going to take this plane to Mississippi?

Flying was at Lindsay.

Don't know yet if I will take it Afterburner. More than likely i'll bring the ultra flash.

I know. But at least the Baron is mine and paid for!

I've flown a Duke quite a few times for a company, and while pretty they barely fly empty.

If I could afford the PC-12 that I fly for a local company, that would be the set up!

Come on lottery!!!

Unlimited vertical was not even in question with the K-180G!

That's awesome! Maybe I should swap the 160 in my Hawk 100 for a K180G. I'd like a bit more push on the upline.

Literally in cruise it was 1/3 throttle 90% of the time.

I will say that compared to my large SM F-16. The hawk does not initially accelerate any where near as fast as the F-16. I think this is because the intakes on the hawk are much smaller. That being said the Hawk is much faster than the F-16 on much less power. Both airplanes have 180 size motors and are similar in size and weight.

Once in the air the Hawk from slow flight pulling into vertical while going full power it will climb out of sight.

the power difference will be more apparent here when it's 100-110 deg out with high humidity!

Beautilful Hawk and congrats onthemaiden. Which 180 do you have in your F-16 and how would you compare the throttle responses? I am thinking about purchasing the Kingtech 180 for a 1/7 Super Hornet.

Congrats Don on your successful maiden of your Hawk.

I too will be putting the maiden on my new Hawk. Do you know where you have the CG located ?

Thanks,

I have a Behotec 180 Gold in the F-16. and King Tech 180G in the Hawk both Mfr's underrate their motors (they produce more thrust than advertised). Both are great motors the only difference is the Kingtech has the valves internal where Behotec does not.

Throttle response is similar between the two.

I have flown Behotec for years and they are great motors but I must say I am impressed with the Kingtech!

As far as balance it is balanced at approx 220-230mm. In other words with out the canopy it will just ease off the nose gear and settle on the tail.

Ghostrider you won't be disappointed with Kingtech
