Good deal, I know you were worried about which model to buy. Now you'll have to deal with the after effects. To paraphrase an old potato chip commercial; you can't have just one.... lol

What do you guys think of the Pro Link trailing link struts? I fly from pavement and they look like a good upgrade but not sure. I've never seen them.

I have a set on my Bobcat Comp and really like them. You will have to replace the springs from time to time as they like any spring stretch out . I like the way it just sits when it lands mostly due to the fact that as it trails back it forces more nose weight and holds it on the ground. You will notice like I mentioned, that once the springs weaken you can get a bit of wing dip or sway from side to side if you swerve back and forth on the runway. Your wheels will also sit out of the wing a bit more because they won't clear the spars as much as the stock struts due, but you won't even notice it in the air.
The KingCats, Bobcats are an awesome plane. Having one at the field is like having a Dremel tool in your shop, you would not want to be without one.

Installing them on mine. Loved them on my Bobcat, they really absorb much more impact than standard struts. Even on the full scale planes, you can really feel the difference..IMO

@JAY,
My KingCat has a JetCat P-160SX which is also 36lbs. of thrust and it's great especially at our field elevation of 4500' ASL. I have a friend with the older JetCat P-120 on his KingCat and the difference between the two models is hard to believe.

@AEROSHELDON,
My KingCat has the prolink struts on the mains and I really like them compared with say my Avanti S which has the standard type struts.

Do the strut covers still fit fine with the new struts?

Hi

the. Covers fit with the pro link but once the gear up, they don't lay flush. They kind of stick out in an angle. But it works and fly fine.

As have I....

Aerosheldon; I bought my KingCat with the struts already installed but I'd think that the obvious solution is that you have to cut off the axles. It's not uncommon for a vendor to supply longer axles as they can be used for a number of various models. Too short and it's all over, too long and you just cut 'em off....

Aerosheldon, what Zeeb described is exactly what I had to do. Loosen the set screw on the bottom end of the strut, I put the wheel on the axel & slid it to where I needed it, then marked & cut it. Be careful not to cut too much! Then I like to grind a flat spot on my newly cut axel for the set screw to get a good bite.
Good luck, Jay

Default BVM Kingcat

Recently bought this Kingcat which was owned by Paul Judice who sadly passed away recently. Had three flights on it so far and really impressed. Presents well in the air and once I've ironed a few bugs out it should be a lot of fun! Has an Evojet 160 Booster which seems like plenty of power.
Looking forward to exploring its capabilities. Going to the Coachella Jet Jam this week so hope to get lots of flights in!

That is one familiar looking Kingcat!! LOL!

This is from the 2004 Superman jet meet video from SKS ... before I sold it to Paul. I won the special recognition award for the paint scheme.

RIP Paul ... great guy. It's great to see that someone will be carrying it forward with flying it!

Great to see some of its history thanks Jamie. Amazing how good a condition it's still in after 15 years! It's going to get plenty of use and I can see myself keeping it for a long time to come! Only thing I've found so far is knife edge is a bit tricky as with most twin boom genre, any tips?
