Generally in all kit there are the supplied tubes that are too big and that is cousin the tubes running hot. To large pipe is a hot pipe, as the tube creates a under pressure in the fuse that is actually making the air close the pipe walls flowing back in worst case so all the cooling of the pipe is lost, hot pipe with under pressure can actually implode in worst case.
The venturi effect is just enough for the bypass system.

All this is pipe size is confusing. I have now had approx 25 flights with my Diamond (#41) and its a wonderful flying model. Lands easily. Yes I had some canopy/fuselage implosion issues and have been sorted with venting and a NACA duct instertion.
However I thought the model would be faster that what the iGryo GPS Speed is telling me. Over those flights as I have got used to the model I have got faster but the top speed has been 378kph. There is not much difference in speed if any from 3/4 to WOT. I have not had any heat issues with the pipe whatsoever or with the fuselage.
When Olafsson brought up the pipe size it made me think as I have a Euro with a 210G (shared) in it and have the stock standard CompARF pipe and it performs extremely well. I then changed out for a bigger diameter pipe 105mm and those who saw it fly with a smaller pipe said what have you done to the Euro it is slower with that bigger pipe in it. I thought it was as well but until someone else said so I didnt take any notice. So I put the smaller pipe back in and am happier where the Euro is now.
So this makes me think now that for my turbine 210G Kingtech and the pipe currently in the Diamond is too large by what Olafsson and Olinco are saying.
So many differing variations and differing opinions for differnet setups I guess manufacturers go for an allround performance.
What size is the Tams Pipe and turbine being used please?

Nice that someone knows,

I thing that the Diamond is going around 400 , maybe 450 km/h but its large air-frame so 500 is almost impossible. But we are disusing a afterburner should be able to give about 10 kg extra thrust.
but we will make some nice light for that plane at least.

Am I confused, are there two companies making this model? Or just one and Houston is making adjustments here being a distributor or actually molding it along with AD? Why is Houston not making more posts if they are actually building one? The Houston web site doesn't have anything on it!! What's up Bear, too much bbq flowing over there? I was thinking about getting a Diamond, but jeez, sounds like it has to be re-built!! So it's one of those or a super connie thats bigger than both my cars!!!! My Skymaster F18 and Mibo are for sale if you happen to know anyone that can't live without either one!! Prices will be good too. Let me know what you think. I have one of the Diamonds from Aviation Design and they are the designer, builder and supplier of the model. I believe Ultimate Jets is a distributor of the model in the USA and makes their own modifications for their customers at what cost I do not know. I am very happy with the model and there is no total rebuild to be done. A straight forward build. A few mods to the fuse to stop the implosion of canopy and fuselage. The inlets were only ever designed for a 19kg thrust turbine and this is explained in the manual by Aviation Design and a template to do such supplied. I fly mine with a Kingtech 210. I have also placed a NACA duct in the bottom of the fuselage to assist with air supply to turbine.
The model is impressive on the ground and in the sky. Would I buy another YES. Some recent photos at one of our jet meets over the weekend. Other pilots were impressed with it's flight performance and being the only one in Australia it is unique and different.

I am beginning to start work on my white racing diamond. Do I need to make any specific mods for a 200N engine? My kit has come with the slots pre cut in the engine bay. Although it doesn't have any naca ducts in the nose wheel box, I can always make one. Any other recommended mods?
Hard wood points: Is it ok to have a thin carbon sheet surrounding the horn on the skin surface of the moving part instead of inserting a wooden block. I have seen several BVM kits this way.

It's a beautiful flying model and you will be most impressed with it and fellow members at your club and anywhere you take it.
The other mods I did was to place a 50mm hole in the nosewheel well at rear of wheel with mesh to stop the grass and rubbish coming in and 2 x 25mm holes on the side of the nose box as well.
Cut the air intake ducting and opened the whole ply former in front of the turbine. This was advise from my supplier as canopy was being sucked in. 210 Kingtech was my powerhouse.
Recently however lost the model and was a very say day. no fire so got some stuff back to send away for refurbishment/repair. looking at another one but freight from france to australia has gone up some 200 euros. Freight now $2000 aud and just puts you off purchasing a wonderful flying and unique model.

Sorry to hear about the loss of the diamond. Disappointing to learn this airplane needs so many mods. If this only needed for a 200N and larger engine? I plan to use an evojet 180. What is the length of the servo arms that you guys are using? I am making a list of items to order for this airplane. Did you use electric gear or pneumatic? I am going with pneumatic,.

I am running my Diamond on an evojet 160VX (170N) and the "cheater holes" were essential. I stopped counting the flights ,but I am somewhat around +110 sorties now. I am still enjoying the plane very much, although i had some troubles with it in the beginning.
Why do you chosse the pneumatic gear? The Behotec E-Tract is possibly the best retract you can get for this plane.Combined with the electric brakes this setup is absolutely hassle-free.
Servos are 8711 all around. Today I would definitely pick a larger engine for the Diamond. Maybe I will upgrade the plane to a bigger engine this season (Behotec 220).

Nothing left so spare parts wont help but tks for the offer. Many mods I would say minor mods to model considering the many mods I have made to other models. I am sure all will agree no model is perfect for what we pay and the suppliers should take feedback onboard from users to modify their models.
Electric gear is the way to go. I modded to fit the electrons because behotec gear is way too expensive.

Whats the CG for the diamond. I have set it at 312mm from the LE of the wing along the root. Someone in earlier posts mentioned it to be at 300mm. Can someone clarify whats the recommended CG for first flights?
Total nose weight which INCLUDES the 3 batteries is 980gms. The airplane weighs 18.75kgs with CAT full.

Have Checkt mine today , after removing lots of weight from the nose I thing that its almost perfect. Tilt the plane backward on the mains and it should balance when the front wheal is about 17cm in the air , I guess 15-20cm should be fine.

The diamond can fly incredibly slow with full flaps (somewhat close to 80 degrees deflection). Personally I enjoy extreme slow flight with full flaps most with the diamond, followed by full power vertical climbs. I recently changed engines and I am now using a Behotec 220.
By the way. The only thing I really recommend is using a Cortex Gyro.
A good friend of mine recently bought a new one. The new kits have some decent optimizations compared to the 2014' version I purchased. The crashed Diamond was rebuilt and we now have 3 of them flying in our area.
