really nice job with the electronics and lights. Amazing details you put in to those areas. Also nice video editing and steady filming.
Looks like you had a few issues to correct.
The engine rails were off.

and here it looks like there is a gap?

And that gap is because I made a plywood "ring" and glue it to the inlet tube so it can be removed later for maintenance (you need to remove it to take out the fuel tanks}

I dont suppose anyone knows what type of paint SM uses? Is it just an automotive type paint? Im trying to match some colors, I need to check my rails thats annoying thing to deal with.

Keith:
Take one of the aircraft parts which has all colors you need to your local Home Depot or Lowe's. They will match it perfectly. I have done this in the past on several DJM models.
Thin the latex with windshield washer fluid. The finish you will get is only as good as the spray system you are using as well as surface prep.

Eric,
Hey that is something I have done before as well, last time I did this was when I took a color to them for this jet to get those paint codes. I painted a F-16 this way before it works really well, I found out today when I called a paint shop Oreilly auto parts has a machine that scans your color as and can mix auto paint. Only one of the stores here has it so I will try that tomorrow and try Lowes again, every time I have done home depot or lowes they are off a shade. Since im only doing a small area if its not a perfect match it stands out like it does now. Im trying all the things locally I can before I send it back. Im trying to find some preval paint applicators as well, they are small bottles u put paint in and then you screw the top on which has a compressed air in it. Makes a spray can type of paint application, it looks like home depot has these in stock so now all I need is matching paint.

Jack, it will be generally latex. I believe they also have some "latex enamel" combos these days. This is not a bad option for flat finishes and is certainly a very safe way to go as it is all water clean up. But have also had issues with getting a good match. Also sometimes I've found this paint didn't shoot well and can kind of foam up a bit. Price can't be beat and is worth a try.

Fender I'm sure Skymaster would use single pack automotive acrylic paints. I would try to get a match in that product. Using an oil based or enamel paint will yellow over time and your touch up will gradually stand out.

My thoughts as well that's why trying automotive paint today and if I can't match it is going back. John sent me the address today, been a helpful guy.

Hey guys do the rudders have some type of control horn inside mine have nothing cut or anything, do you have to cut a hole in the rudder and glue a carbon control horn in? The instruction dont show any of this if so, mine are completely uncut.
#46
Thanks Jaun do you glue the carbon rod into the rudder yourself? Mine has the servo box and the square opening for the control rod but the control surface has no carbon rod glued into it. The instructions say nothing about gluing one in

I'm not sure about that, because this plane originally came "turbine ready", and then Ernesto and I decided to go the extra mile and redo most of the installation. Probably as a kit you have to glue them by yourself.

Keith,
they're not glued in. and if I'm not mistaken there is a picture in the manual as where they should go, but believe me, it's a bit of a pain.... as are the horns in the slats.... there was Little to no wood in my rudders, and also in one slot where the slat horns go....
