I would still consider buying the radio today. There is a learning curve with it for sure. I have flown Jr products since Circus Circus and never have had a problem except with my 12X, which I love and will be using for a few more years to come, just not in a very crowded environment. JR'S Dmss and XBUS are the main reason for myself buying the 28X and not spectrum. This winter I am installing it in a jet and the large hanger 9 decathlon both with XBus and Axis gyro. So I have a lot of confidence in the radio.

I wouldn't let a bit of bad news or people being honest about certain aspects about the radio translate to anything near: steer clear, don't buy.
Quite the opposite. It's a solid radio, it's just about brand new and a major upgrade over previous JR radios and a major upgrade over many other radios when you look at the whole picture of software + hardware. Using one to actually fly, is great.
no need to ruthlessly bash the radio, as it is a high quality product. No question. Pointing out honest issues or shortcomings is a good thing. I don't have a single issue with the radio itself and I've found it very dependable. Once they mature the software it'll be even better. That being said, if I can bash Spektrum for software/QC faults I have to equally bash on JR when they mess up too.

Flew my OMP Sbach342 today (Christmas) with 28x with the last update and everything seems the same. 712 receiver with Axis - Hitec pwm 525 mg servos. I have several planes I have flown before the update concerns: 107 " Pilot Sbach342 DLE111 at Joe Nall event this year and My Ziroli P51 Quadra 75 power, as well as several other planes. My Carf Euro King tech 140 is ready when the weather suits. This has been a great radio with huge potential. More info from JR is what is lacking. They've had plenty of time to update the manual on the web. If you set your air craft up on xbus, make sure you write down and or the id stuff because after you set it there's no way to see what it is. When you need to make a change or whatever the I'd has to be in the top boxes

Well guys
Santa brought my 28x yesterday so now I'm trying to figure it out
So far I have found the programming very intuitive and I'm very impressed. I am planning on setting up my new hawk this weekend

Just finished setting up two 8711s on elevator of the hawk. Had to figure out how to set up output curve. Interesting !!'
Used milliampere meter on one servo and adjusted curve points to achieve minimum current draw throughout range. Never able to do that before other than end points and center
Pretty cool

It is best to wait until the download becomes available on the JR Americas site. Currently the latest download is listed on the 28X product advertisement page under the downloads tab. http://www.jramericas.com/235009/JRP010501Q/?pcat=2 It is there you will find the file and instructions all in one convenient spot.

I got around to installing 0006. Wiped out all my widgets setup on my home screens. Have not tested my models after doing the bulk restore yet, though.
They finally added the ability to have voice announced airspeed. Don't see any turbine telemetry widgets yet...

I like the general purpose widgets. They allow you to display things in larger text that were previously on those useless dial gauges. Like temp or airspeed.
Still no voice announce for timer. This is a baffling omission.

This this is not a dig at JR as I have had every JR up to PCM 10 but I would really miss having call outs on voice now, when going to full flap I also have speed along side the timer announcements

why wait. Download links are the same link in either language.

Has anyone tried to use the slow start or any other xbus setting on the xbus servos. I have set the nx 8921 servos to slow start with no apparent " slow start". My Sbach342 is infinity rx with no converters.

i got my first Signal lockout, was flying my trex600N, using firmware 005. Total signal loss, and my heli crashed.
I was hovering for engine break-in. the heli is brand new, i was just on my second tank, breaking in the engine. Battery is fully charged. I had one full range 7 channel Rx and a full range satellite. I don't know if anyone has had any signal issue but it would be nice to know if my case is an isolated cases or if anyone else has had a signal issue.
Now i am not so sure i trust the radio. I have never had any issues on the Spektrum 18QQ
My friend lost his 10,000USD jet also due to signal lockout and moved back to futaba. this is very disappointing. the 28x has a lot of potential but this signal issue is troubling
