I'm not referring to the fej stuff I no longer have I'm talking about a 10k and 6k two Skymaster jets and a current FB So why don't you stop bringing up fej, that horse has been beatin to death enough. It is the same thing, but your always going to oppose any opinion I have so I will just stop right here and add you to the ignore list. Your missing my point completely once again sorry gun for your issues talking to Mike directly might yield a better result or even Jose.

Kris, any idea if the non-rotating gear are reliable?

Joe, I have only one flight so far. Kris is right, I have the same issue with the gear. I'm considering changing to nonrotating before I fly again. Plane flies awesome. Took very little trim and the 2 140 gives awsome power.

Gunradd, if there is enough interest in these landing gear components that keep failing, I may be able to have a coworker manufacture some out of a good aerospace grade steel.

If you are interested, shoot me a PM.

Jason thank you so much for the offer. I am going to give them one more chance to make this part right then try another route. I am also going to do Micks MOD that he did and the problems should be solved I hope. They should be sending me out stronger parts this next week I hope.

Dantley The rotating part for me is working fine so I do not see a need to get rid of it right now. Gear retracts reliable for me now. I will need to use this same part if it rotates or not so it wont solve the issue.

It's hard to imagine that they could make any mod to the current design that would make it take the full rotational force of takeoff and landing on the small button that rides in the slot. It's a clever design to rotate but completely unsuited to take big loads.

While I have not flown my airplane yet, I have a metal design (I milled it out of 6061 T6) that takes all the rotational force away from the button that does the gear rotation and I expect it will be reliable. It is simply an alternate implementation of Mick's design. I posted earlier on this thread. If someone wants to make up a batch of them that would be cool, I'd be happy to send them the prototype parts.

Hi SC, I don't have an interest in making any more than the ones I need .. I thought someone had a friend who was in the biz and might like to make them... happy to give them the design or let them see the parts I made.

Hey Gunradd, I'm doing a build of one of these for a guy, can you send me the details, or link to it, of the "Micks MOD" for the gear?
I want to have this addressed and "fixed" before i move on.

Doug

Update.

Gunradd, I found "MicksMod" in the earlier posts. I like the aluminum block fix better thouigh. Let me know which way you go, I would be curious how well the fix works.

Will do Doug.

I already made the wood blocks. Waiting for FB to get me the new gear parts so I can install them and trim out the wood parts. Since it worked well for Mick in the grass I am hoping it will work better for me on the pavement. We will see. Hope to have her airborne again soon. Depends on when the parts arrive.

Not a whole lot to show yet. Waiting on the new gear parts from China. They are supposed to ship today or tomorrow.

All I have left to do is secure it to the main bulkhead and cut a u shape channel for the strut to sit in. This will make the gear a ton stronger and I hope will cure my problems.

Gunn

You make me sick. You get planes built and flown in the time it takes me to get one loaded up into the van. You've got more 'air under your butt' than most guys in this hobby. That's for sure!

Rock on in the new year.

Shaun happy new year!!

Few little updates. Working with Sean McHale to develop a kit with all the scale antennas and AOA probes and pitot probes for the F15. He should have that done soon and available to order for everyone else that wants one.

Today I started painting the formation lights and repainted the titanium under the engines. Also thinking about using some animated pilots... We will see.

With the two 140 did you have to add weight and how much and where? could you post a couple of photos of the inside where the two 140s are. I have my batteries in the nose. have not set the CG yet so if you could offer any help would be good.

thanks Joe

I would also fit the extra bolts so you can adjust the tracking. Then you don't have to rely on those stupid little squares to control the tracking during landing.

Not sure if the design has changed over the years on that bulkhead that goes behind the gear but the current one has a bolt and blind nut glued into it. So I will need to cut a relief slot in the back of this block. That is why the first one a made was so skinny. I am sure the first crosswind landing I had it would have ripped that block out like you said. Better off making it allot bigger and cutting a relief slot for the blind nut.

Yes thats the plan. I still dont have the new gear parts so I am going of broken and bent stuff right now. Should have a new set Saturday thanks to Marcio and then will do a better fit test and mount everything. Glad you already went through all this so you could help us all. I am about to start going crazy with the scale details and dont need anymore gear issues with this plane.

BTW how does it feel to have a MOD named after you lol. Your famous.

pic of the blind nut.

Got the new gear mod done. Its very beefy now and makes the gear very strong.
