Default MIBO A10 tires and brakes.

Hi

I have now logged 9 flights in my A10. Just won best sclajet in Bellotajet2016 last weekend . ;-)

Still, I have a problem with the tires and brake pads. Dubro tires are too soft and have a very strong grip. Also for the install in the wheels, they have to be cutted and slotted to fit the wheel, rght?

If not glued, they will get out of the wheel (ask me how I know?). What would be the best glue to glue them? Remember that somewhere in time, glue will have to be removed

The brake pads are too soft and I am planning to make a carbon pad to act as a brake, but I have some doubts regarding braking efectiviness.

Are you guys using other tires or are experiencing these issues?

best regards

We use shoe goo glue on our tires to glue to the rims and has fixed the problem for us. I know several others have done the same. We also had to disassemble the gear and use red locktite on the steel sleeve that is inside the aluminum strut, as it would rotate when the gear came down and stops suddenly causing the main wheel assy to turn 90 deg's some times. Those two fixes appear to have solved our Mibo A-10 gear problems.

Hi

Thanks. Will Robart tires fit the wheel or some mods are needed? I tried sullivan and they are too thin.

Do you have their PN?

Looking closely at Robart tires, it seems the Mibo wheeels were originally designed arround them. I will give it a try.

Br stands for best regards ;—)

I have a gen.2 Mibo. Wheels and brakes perfect. Why were they changed? Maybe for weight? Cost savings? Who knows except that the change was NOT thought out at all. Just looking at the set up now tells anyone with any knowledge of such stuff that it is bad, won't work, and will just cause grief and problems for the end user, us. Failure. The wheel wasn't broken, why did you mess with it? Go back to what was GOOD, and what worked, stop messing with proven things. If you can't do that, then why don't you just ask those of us consumers what does work and stay with that, or change to that? If one looks at the tire alone, a knowledgeable person will tell you it is very bad, and it is. Good grief........just say'n.

Im willing to bet for several reasons, the biggest reason is weight. The gen 5.5 has a lot of little items that where changed to save weight. Here in the states we tend to build them heavier than what Europe does, we like bigger engines that need more fuel and of course all the operating details like the canopy , lights and functional pilots ladder. Add to that power boxes and all the like. Jet 1A made the first gear for the Mibo. later it was euro kits who went out of business but have now returned under new ownership. So I suspect that jet1A had the first version wheels made for them, and then when the supply was no more a new source was found. Today we new wheels with electric brakes and I am not sure if the wheel was changed again. But we all know the new wheels and tires are nothing like the early versions. I mentioned in my previous post that Oli at Ultimate Jets was trying to develop a tire that would be a better solution to what is being offered now. As with all things Mibo I am sure it will happen later than sooner.

Hi

I ordered Robart tires. it seems that the wheels in my kit were designed arround that. Dubro wheels just are not good for this kind of weight

IAmazing kit. Last weekend won again best sclae jet in a event. I will let you know about Robart tires

If anyone wants to sell off their Mibo A10 Dubro 6 inch soft tires I may be willing to buy at a reasonable price. I am looking to use them on my Aviation Design turbo Beaver which uses harder rubber than I would like . Saw some of the Mibo made by Dubro last weekend and they were fairly soft ; as I would like them. Please PM me if interested. Also advise the width, please.
Many thanks guys.

So are guys having problems with braking power on the new generation A10 with electric brakes?

Test flew my friends gorgeous A10 this weekend and while the aircraft flew outstandingly well, the brakes
had virtually no grab. He had it up to the max voltage and it was a joke for such an impressive overall airframe.

Seriously considering one of these myself but what is the deal wheels and brakes???

Hi Dean ; You did a great job flying that machine.....Got hooked, eh ? Seems I read somewhere that electric brakes need to wear in and get roughened up
on the two surfaces as they are very smooth. Quick way was to use 80 sandpaper to roughen up each surface and then they wear in faster.

Dean, the first generation brakes where marginal. There is now and improved version. Don't know how old the model is but some of the early Gen 5 kits needed the brakes upgraded. Check with Woody and Oli at Ultimate jets

What is the current brake offered with the kit?

wondering if I keep building with the electric brakes or modify to the new air brake system?

Hi guys

Well, now I am used to not use brakes in the A10, but it sucks....

I made some carbon disks that wear after 10-15 landings. I will be looking for some ferodo pds to cut to shape. Hopefully they can be more durable.

Does anyone know what are skymaster pads made of? They brake very effectevely and are durable

Off to clearcoat my Hawk now ;-)
Best regards

I'm working on a Gen 6 A10 and the brakes are disc operated by a miniature Hitec servo, they seem very effective. I've not flown it as yet so can't comment on durability.
The Skymaster brakes are a multiple disc more like a clutch with alternate plain and bonded plates. They could be modified to fit the Mebo but it would be some undertaking.
