Great job Tom.

I'm attaching a couple of pics of the aileron mechanism. They may help.

Thanks Jack. The only thing I don't understand is the short inboard aileron wire hinge. The mechanism breaks the flow of a full legnth wire hinge. Is the short inboard wire mounted permanently and you angle the aileron on then thread the longer outboard wire to secure the aileron?

Good cause thats the way I did it. After you seal the aileron and the hinge doesnt go through you are screwed.

I am not quite sure, but I think that I made some sort of guide for the long outboard wire.
It slides from the tip rib.

Well after a few mental health days Im back in action. Got flap sheeted yesterday and aileron today. A few minor things to do on wing, then sheeting.

Well one of the major areas of the build was ops checked tonight. The flaps move flawlessly in their tracks. Hope to see of the ailerons do the same tomorrow. This part of the build had ZERO margin of error. Im elated!

Been out of action for the last few days as family things took priority. I have been doing fine tuning on flaps and ailerons before completing the wing sheeting. I think I am going to frame up the other wing to the same place so I can make changes to the first wing before buttoning them up. The tolerancea for the flaps and aileron mechanisms are unbelievably small and i dont want to rush. I will start some fuselage construction during the dead time in the other wing construction.

Default TP Build

Tom,
Your building looks really good. What is the expected completion date of the plane?

Rob. This thing is so complicated I dont want to put a date on it and rush to hit it. I generally think it will take almost 2 years.

Have you tried the ailerons? you'll be surprised how tight the system is... almost zero slop. And BTW, saw your pics, and again, I don't understand how it works haha!!!.

Great build Tom. To see the ailerons working for the first time is a scary rush, isn't it?

Two years is about what it took me ... but you are fast

PA disigned a cradle to support the wing after the top is sheeted. Ill flip the wing, remove the tabs from the ribs and continue this week. I really hope to get wing 2 to the same point as wing 1. Then I will take a break from balsa and work on the fuselage.

Finally, something besides balsa. With the wing curing today I started the fuselage. PA has stick on templetes to guide you throu the cut outs in the fiberglass.
