Gear installation
Hi John,
I used good old fashioned wood screws to mount the main gear and nose gear. I would have preferred blind nuts but it wasn't possible. Pay close attention to the distance between the screw hole and the edge of the hardwood to maximize the distance as much as you can.
As for attaching the gear doors. I would recommend forgetting all about the nose doors; one pair of doors remains open when the gear is down and the other set closes when the gear reaches the end of its travel (both up and down) and the hinges for the doors don't fit too terribly well. I found that life was better just to leave the nose gear doors off. The main gear doors are very visible so you should install them. Attached is a pic of one of my mains.
I have put a few posts on this thread about recommended changes (particularly the fixed wing trailing edge forward of the flap). Please have a look at these posts.
