Hey guys, I got an ultra flash evo ordered, should be here February-ish. Planning on running a swiwin 170 in it. I ordered mine with the wing tank just in case I want to run it for longer flight times. What connectors are you guys using for the wing tank? I have heard talk about dry break connections that seal off when unhooked, but I'm not sure which ones people are using.

After a long pause away from building the evo
I was ready to fit the servo in the pocket and you have to open the pocket to fit the servo and alu servo bracket.
while opening it up with my dremel and sanding drum at low rpm. Acidently toched the spar in the stab because it's a foam glas spar can i bin the stab and order a new one?
or can i still use it?

Hey guys, couple of quick questions, how are you guys mounting the wing tank in the wing? Also where does your wiring for the wing exit the wing? Are you putting a hole through the hatch and exiting there?

Test fit the Swiwin 170 tonight.. looks like it lines up pretty well. Painted the entire interior of the fuse with a light coat of grey primer and stone paint. Even painting the entire inside of the fuse it only gained 2.4oz of weight. It’s worth the trade off to me, it looks so much nicer. I just set the engine there, I know it needs to move forward and this is before I set the pipe in there….

most people that I’ve seen just cut a hole in the cover for the wing tank and run the wires through there.
I’m actually really glad you figured how much weight the paint added. I’ve been on the fence about doing it once my ultra flash shows up, but was concerned about the weight gain. So thank you! Lol

For the guys running the unilights, I’m getting ready to cut the slots in the wingtips. I’m using the same lights as seen earlier in the thread, did you guys make the slots big enough to fit the resistor through? It doesn’t look like you did.

Also what are you using to secure the lights in the slot? I’ve used E6000 before and I could try that again.

You just need a slightly bigger hole forming at one end of the slot, it’s fractional (like an old fashioned key slot)

What type of stand works best for the Ultra Flash since it has to be rolled over to attach the wing onto it's back?

I see a few guys using a panel stand. With the canopy off the flap part keeps it stable while you mount the wing.

I have a few Byron Craft Cuddlers that i still use and these work awesome, but they no longer are available. On the cheap but functional side, I have used this successfully also when i forgot my usual stand .. Its ok for for field assembly.

On the Unilight install, any reason that the wing is a bad spot to install the controller? Seems like 4 of the 5 lights in the small kit are in the wing.

No, I would always mount it where the least number of connections are needed when hooking it up!

The hole in the rear fuselage face needs opening with a Dremel before the tailpipe will fit. The factory just cut a smaller hole just in case someone goes a different route on the tailpipe. There will not be much flange left at the top of the hole…

The factory pipe seems to fit just fine through the existing hole? Do I need to open it more?

Try the tail cone on the back with the pipe installed. You will need to elongate the hole to allow the tail cone to seat correctly.
I like a gap all around to allow some air movement even though the outer pipe will be tight against the tailcone.

mount the light controller in the fuse!!!! If you mount it in the wing, you have to run a servo wire from your RX to your controller......AND.......you have to run a power wire to the light controller as well!!!! ANDDDDD.........you'll have more things to hook up when you install your wing onto the fuselage!!!!

Hi Tom,

Wasn’t me asking, mine is going in the fuse. Like you said, there’s already too many wires and connections going to the wing. Also trying to keep it light as possible so wouldn’t want to extend all those extra wires all the way to the wing to mount it there. Thanks for looking out!

it was me who was asking. So I have to run a servo wire to the rx and a power wire if it is in the wing, and the belly light--3 wires to plug in. But if I put it in the fuse I have to plug in two landing lights and two wingtip lights--4 wires to plug in.

I haven't even opened mine up yet so I may be waaay off base on how it even works....
