Default EA BDXs 2m

I just placed an order for the BDXs 2m sports jet. I went with a custom scheme. Scott over at EA did an excellent job adapting the scheme to the airframe.

the scheme is from the 1980’s Japanese Blue Impulse flight team. They had two different colors schemes on the F-86. The 1960’s was mostly silver and the 1980’s had white.

I know some think the BDX is an ugly looking jet but the scheme just fits it so well.

I was told 5-6 weeks for delivery. Certainly hope that holds true.

85n-120n with a flying weight of 20-21lbs w/o fuel.

What do you have for a motor? What’s your overall opinion on construction and fitment?

It has a K102 and flies great on that.
Construction is just like all other Elite Aerosports and the finish is very good.
Ours was delivered in the time that they promised and unless it changed it will come by air in 2 boxes

I’m trying to figure out what motor to use. I have a Jetcat 130 but EA says that’s a little too much power. I have had a k102 but it’s very loud, the motor ran great but don’t like the high idle. I’m kinda looking at swiwin 120 which has a lower idle at full power and same cost as the 102 with 6lbs more thrust. Or another jetcat RX100 which costs more money but I like the warranty.

what’s the length of your electron retract struts? I have a set of electrons 40’s. I’m taking them out of another jet. Might have to buy longer struts but not sure.

I would not buy a new engine if I was in your situation. Put the 130 in there and go. Use the left stick to prevent over speed. If you really don't trust yourself, turn it down a little.

Ditto what he said. Use the left thumb!

I’m getting a 102 for it. Sold the jet that had the 130 in it. Talked to EA and they did not recommend using the 130. Plus I want to keep this jet light as possible.

reconfirmed the 5-6 week time table. This will be my first EA jet. I have owned BVM,GJC,Carf, TopRC, T-one and WindRC over the past few years. I just keep trading jets back and forth.

How does it fly? I have seen the larger one but not the smaller 2m. Slow landings? Short take off? High speed slow speeds?

I have flown sport jets (Carf Viper and TopRC odyssey) and scale jets (BVM F-18 and GCJ F86) along with trainers (Boomerang,Navy Cat, and HH mb339)

I hope this checks a lot of boxes for my flying style now. I want the speed and aerobatics of sport jets, the slow landings and takeoffs of a trainer. The looks of a scale jet ( which technically it is a BD-5 2.0).

do any of you change the fuel tank fitting from the factory or keep it? What flight times is everyone getting?

I think it was less than 6 weeks from the time I ordered it until it was at the house
It flies great and the K102 is plenty of motor

It would be nice to see some up close pictures of this plane as I’ve never seen an EA plane up close. I have seen a CARF up close ant they are exquisite. I’m wondering how they compare.

I ordered mine today, they had one in stock in the exact scheme I wanted so I pounced on it.

What servos seem to be the best choice out there? The holes say 20x40 and that seems to be a tad small for most? I was thinking of some 38kg Bluebird hall sensor servos.

I’m using mks HBL550

I also recommended EA wiring harness. Fantastic quality. Unless you want to build your own.

Is there room under the motor for a smoke tank like the larger bdx?

order 30 days ago. I’m guessing it will be shipped out soon via air. Looks like they painted the orange part red. Could be the light in the room. But I have a feeling it is red. Which still looks fine but might be easier to see. I can always repaint it.

That looks nice. I wasn't a fan of the BDX at first, thought they looked a little stubby, but that scheme makes it look a lot longer.

EA is going to repaint a new one, it’s supposed to be orange on the bottom .So this one might be moved to “In Stock” in the EA store. But don’t hold me to it.

Even with the K102 you will need ballast in the nose, our batteries are as far forward as they can go. So if you go with a bigger engine that gets worse.

What size batteries?
