I will be taking it there. Funny ive been flying turbines on and off for years but never got my waiver so might have a friendmfly her around. Hopefully i can get her flying before the event and get my waiver so i can fly myself there. Im a full time pilot and hope to be off during the event time

When you say mount that filter vertical doesmit matter which side is up or down. If you look at my last picture wouldmit be ok to run the line up and over the mount i made for ecu on/off and propane selenoid and then backndown towards the exit hole for the turbine? That should get it vertical and i can put a tube clamp on that plywood crossbrace to make sure it stays in that position

Mount it in the direction of fuel flow from bottom to top so that any air will be pushed up and out.
I always leave mine loose so that it naturally shakes a little and dislodges any bubbles or you can flick it wth your finger once in a while.

Im confused a little. Direction of fuel flow is forward to aft. My question is the way the fuel plumbing is now sitting on top of wing below the mail tank for me to get the filter vertical i would have to have it go up right where you see the filter and them back down towards the exit hole on side of boat tail towards the turbine. Is thst ok?

Cool doing that now. Bummer bought this jet all built up and gentleman did such a great job on the build i just noticed when i mated the wing to fuse there is a small gap between top of wing and fuse. Need some old school foam from trainer days with sticky back to fill and also something for the wimg to sit on.
The closer you get to getmit finished little things start popping up. Need to go over the whole plane with the iron again as some of the monokote did not sit tight. Or a heat gun and a glove
And the silver pin strip doesnt wanna stay on either. Keeps coming up. Anyone know a good trick for the pin strips? To keep them down. They were just pin strip roll with sticky back.

Sometimes the hot iron will make them stick.

Ok guys let me know how this looks. I would have had to run a whole new line for the furl so what I did is put a 90 there and now the fuel lines goes up over the ECU on/off mount and then back down into the filter and then out the boat tail. Does that look good?

I didnt have any jet a to fill the UAT to I used about 12oz of lead placed right over the UAT and it took about 9oz up in the nose to balance the plane with gear up at 6.5 inches behind the leading edge. I guestimated how much a full UAT would weigh with fuel in it hence where I came up with the 12oz of lead.

Another good reason to use the Festa 6mm, it does not care about orientation. There's always an air bubble in there, but it goes no where, no matter what you do. It just works.....

Woketman,
It is hard to attach the 4mm fuel line (from the pump to the turbine) to the 6mm Festo filter. Agree with using a 6 mm Festo upstream of the pump but that's not the usual place for it.

Why not just use a 4mm festo filter?

Johnny,
Twelve oz of lead to simulate a fully fueled UAT is a bit much-should be about 4 oz max. Rebalance with a 4 oz weight for the UAT and you may have to remove some of the nose ballast. To be sure, balance again when you receive your new fueler and fill up with Jet-A. Ensure that the UAT "sack" is fully saturated with fuel before flight, otherwise it may burp a big bubble.
Rgds,
Art

Will do. I did make the ballast removable for that reason. But if I used 12oz to simulate full UAT and I was way over that means I will be even more tail heavy and need more ballast up front

Johnny,
Sorry I didn't know where your UAT was located- in relation to the CG. Typically the BTE Reaction requires quite a bit of nose ballast to balance properly-it can easily handle the weight .

Unless the UAT is absurdly far forward, it's close enough to the CG and light enough even when full to be negligible in its impact to CG.

In any event the CG should be set with UAT EMPTY because that gives you the worst case scenario (running out of fuel some day is not the time to find out that oops, your CG is just a bit too far AFT when the tanks are dry). Then when you have fuel in the UAT you have a (small) forward cushion in your CG.

The nose gear, being much farther forward, has a greater impact on CG. Make sure your gear is retracted when making your adjustments because the CG moves aft in that condition.

My UAT is mounted right in front of the elevator and rudder servos in the radio bay. I will redo the CG. Just gonna have to find where to add more lead as the batteries are taking up all the room up front. Will have to wait till I get back from Europe next week as I'm leaving on a trip today

I wouldn't worry about it, just leave it be. I put a 40 oz Sullivan in that location and it barely made a difference in the flight characteristics whether full or empty.

Hey Guys, I made an error in Post 3515. I said I was using a Jet Central Bee II. It has 15 not 18 lbs of thrust. Got carried away with power. Chic

Programmed TX to TEMS, Finished up all the little ins and outs. cleaned up wiring. Finished Start Tube today. Fuel Jug arrived. Heading to airport to get some JetA and gonna try and fire her up.

Can someone post a pic of how they have there OB gas tank setup?? I will be using it as a OFF board tank for start up. I have a one way festo on the selonoid side. But coming out of the little tank I have a T festo. One goes to the one way selonoid and the other I will hood up my powermax to fill up tank. My question is what keeps the little onboard tank from emptying itself after I fill it or disconnect it from the model?? Do i need a festo ball valve to close it after start?? and filling?
