The canopy is done, this jet will be very easy to cove since it has big flat surfaces, the fuse was given a final sanding with 220 grit, cleaned with compressed air and went over it with a damp cloth before any Ultrakote could go on.
Done for tonight.

You know possums are actually amazing animals that are very beneficial to have around. They aren't evil aggressive creatures. They eat all kinds of pests in the garden including snails, slugs, even rats. They don't carry disease, they are immune to rabies.
it's a shame so few people realize what a benefit they are to have on your property.

I actually don't mind the little dude as my neighbor but we have 3 kittens that are ready to go outside, my daughter is a cat girl and even though she is impressed by him ( she has never seen one personally ) she wants him relocated for the safety of the kittens.

I do a lot of wildlife rescue. Domestic cats account for literally 80% of our intake at our local wildlife center. Birds, squirrels, bunnies, possums, all are victims of cats. Cats kill over one million songbirds per day in the united states alone. Our one small wildlife center takes in roughly 300 birds per month averaged out over the year. (Some months may be 600, some may be close to zero in winter months). Cats carry a pasturela bacteria that birds and small mammals cannot combat. Without antibiotics and pain management they die a slow painful death from something as simple as ingesting the cats saliva if they are lucky enough to escape from an attack.
that aside, this summer alone on the farm property I rent my shop on I watched eagles catch cats 3 times this year.
Our domesticated house cats are not a native species. House cats, unlike feral, do not kill and eat their prey, they play with them and usually leave them to die. There are huge dangers outside to the cats as well, eagles, coyotes, poisons, traffic, and the most disturbing of all, sick twisted humans that torture animals for fun. I am all for having cats as pets, but I do feel they should be monitored if outdoors no different than a dog or even a toddler.
There are a significant number of songbird species on the verge of extinction because of cats.
Again, I don't mean to sound preachy, I just spend a significant amount of time doing wildlife rescue and see the hundreds of thousands of dollars that go towards saving small animals. The circle of life is one thing. Domestic cats are not part of that circle.
Just my opinion.

I read and appreciate your opinion, every time you write I read, I just read about the AMT engine troubleshooting that Mr:Matt is going through with your advice, very useful info, I don't own an AMT but troubleshooting is my thing and when it comes to AMT engine I would go to you first.

I'm planing to have the fuse, stabs, elevator and possible one side of the wing covered on Wenesday ( I can only hope ) the wing will be covered in the Piper Cub yellow that I got, all of it then I will trim it for the black portions like the center section, the top of the ailerons and flaps are going to be black, yellow for the bottom side

Will be back covering tomorrow morning, I will push the next 4 days to get the basic covering done, the details of the scheme will be done after the maiden flight, I want to speed up the final work so I can give it the maiden flight next Friday or Saturday or in 10 days.

Just a thought on the wings before you cover them. It helps a lot down the road to bend a piece of 1/16 music wire to embed in the trailing edge of the wing tip. It only has to wrap around about an inch on each side of the point and then cover with some thin glass cloth. This will work wonders to help save those very thin, fragile, pointy, wing tips from hanger rash. Same works well on the horizontal stabilizer.

There is another way to do that, it was used in the old Zone 5 kit: cut a thin piece of carbon fiber plate with the exterior planform of the entire wing tip (to save weight you can make it a quarter of an inch in thickness the entire way around), split the wing tip balsa block, sandwich the carbon plate in the middle, and sand it to the plate's outline. The resulting wing tip has a CF ding protector built in, all the way around!

Fuse is done, lunch break.
This is the basic covering, I will add more color and will be painting the inside with gray paint, all that is to come after the maiden, the goal right now is to get it ready for its first flight by next Thursday.
