Default PCM Models AV8R ?

Hello All,
I am in the process of building an AV8R and I am missing the nose gear mount block. I have writing Pat but he must be away for the holidays as he has not responded in 5 days. Can any of you tell me what brand of nose gear he used so I can close up the front of the plane. I didn't notice that it was missing until after I installed the bulkhead which is already drilled for his hardware choice. I would like to get it finished by Weds I go back to work on Thurs and the start of the year is always hectic.
Thanks, Ron

Default AV8R nose gear

Hi Ron;
If you will e-mail your address to me, I will send you the nose gear that came in my AV8R kit.
I replaced mine with a Fults double strut as I intend to fly this out of our grass field, which is too small for my larger turbines.
Best regards
Ron Jahnig

Ron
The nose gear blocks you need are the Dubro Nylon
Gear Blocks #156, They will bolt right on the former.

Thanks guys for the replies and offers. I was able to get the info I need from Pat this evening. He is now using the sig nose gear blocks instead of the dubro one and I will pick one up at the hobby shop tomarrow,
Ron

Default PCM AV8TR Kit

Dear Ron, Where did you buy your AV8TR kit? I saw a photo of one on Frank Tiano's website and am curious as to where to buy it.
Thanks,
Mick Georgin

Hi Mick,

You can buy direct from Pat McCurry, the designer.

I don't think he has an ad & link here on RCU to help you find him, but I'm sure someone here can tell you how to contact him.

IIRC, his website is something or other with "pcm" in the URL. A google search would probably find it.

Default PCM Models AV8R ?

Hi all.
For those looking for Pat's website, it is: FlyPCM.Com John and I have been flying 2 of those AV8Rs and we are having a blast. I think between us we have almost 70 flights in just 2 months! Pat has been flying his longer than we have been, and I think he has logged over 100 flights! It is the most fun you can have for under $400!! This airplane goes a long way in teaching a newcomer turbine protocall while remaining aerobatic enough for the best of us. IF anybody needs any info, I am happy to help. Happy New Year to All,
FT

Thanks Frank for your info! Would one of your new jet engines fit the requirements of this model? If so how much can I expect to invest in the whole set-up? Just a ball park price. I've been building giant scale and need to get a jet!
Thanks, Mick Georgin

Yes, the T-500 is an ideal engine, and we are taking orders now for late January delivery, BUT, soon there will be others that will fly the AV8R as well. I would imagine that by May or June you will see a 500 sized engine from SimJEt, PST, SWB and possibly even JetCat. As far as cost, I think that you could be flying an AV8R for less than $2850 not including your radio.

Default PCM AV8R

Ron,
Sorry I missed your e-mail, I been away for a while and I hope everything works out okay for you.

Frank is right the website is www.flypcm.com. As for an available AV8R kit, I am starting a new run of kits in about a week or so. If you need one now I think frank may still have his.

By the way that little t 500 from FTE is just right for this model. We are finding that it one reliable engine and its available now direct from FTE.

If you have any questions regarding the kit or engine, feel free to give us a call at 561 793 6850.

Thanks.

If I can interject a few points as well. The plane builds fast! I thought that my Bobcat built fast. I have in total 10 hours building time and it is ready to cover and install the equipment. If you have a vacuum system and a large building room so that you can do the wings, tail and fuse at the same time I bet you could get it framed in one long day. I am going to use it as a intro plane for guys in my club to get their turbine waivers. See all of you next year at FLA Jets.

Default AV8R SPECS.

The AV8R has a wing span of 62 inches and a length of 65 inches. All up weight minus fuel is 13 pounds even on my model with some weighing in at around 14.

I have no idea if one is still available out there! It was replaced by the DV8R a few years later. Troybuilt Models sells that one.
Good Luck,
Frank
