RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Trust me guy's on this, put a OS 91 fx and you want go wrong. The OS 61 fx and 91 fx is just about the same size and weight. I think the 61 is 19.42 and the 91 19.44. Both engines are build on the same frame but the 91 is a little taller and has more power for the money. Now i have seen two of them fly, one with a 61fx and the other one a wren 44 turbine but the Little BobCat can take a some more power. I have one that we are going to put a PST 600R (turning it down) and we also have OS 91 fx sitting around that we are thinking about tring first.

I have swapped the OS .61 and .91 back and forth on a couple of airplanes, and the .91 is much stronger. It has almost 1 HP more power, and the torque must be a lot higher too. If you take the center section out of the muffler on the .91 I think the weight is the same. It runs fine with the center section and baffle removed, or just use the .61 muffler. Bob

What size turbine ? We are goning to put my PST600r on it when my new turbine arrives for the XL. Look at the mounts that i think will work perfect, i think my base mount is going to be made out of wood.
Also check out the $3.50 antenna mount that i got from HobbyTown's car section, this way you don't have to cut your antenna.

I have gotten some more flights in on mine since the engine conversion. The 75 two stroke does a good job. I am going to mess with prop pitches a little but all in all it's a winner. The problem now is the main landing gear. No matter how good a landing I have the gear bends back. After three landings I have to take it out and bend it back. Is anyone else having the same problem and if so have you done anything to fix it?

The landing gear blocks are not glued in very well, soon onemay fail on you.

I have already experienced the lack of glue on the landing gear blocks. This is the first time I have seen a two piece block. They did a great job of forming the wooden parts in the wing but then didn't put any glue on them. I had one block come loose so I opened up the wing and epoxied the parts in. On the other side I ran some CA down into the hole in the block. So far it has stayed together well. What did you replace the main gear wires with? Did you use a prefab landing gear or did you bend up new ones yourself. The nose gear is not a problem and is preforming well. It's just the main gear that seems very soft.

Well, I had a Rossi 45 on mine and it flew good, but I now have a Jett 90lx turning an 11x7P apc prop. I have yet to run it, but I estimate that it should turn around 16800-17000+ on this prop. Should give lots of thrust and good speed. Can't wait to fly it.
Will update when I get to fly it.

Yah, the stock metal gear isn't too strong and bend easily and once bent, even easier. I made these for replacements. I may make a bunch of them if there is a market. Maybe paint them. One day, I'll go to retracts maybe.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
Hi
This is my “Nitro models pusher Bobcatâ€.
Check the main gear retracts. I did not sink the wheels into the wing or fuselage.
The placement of the retract did not interfere with any of the wing structure.
This let me put a trimmed Master Airscrew 14x7 3-Blade Pusher on the O.S. 91.
This combo moves out!!!!!
The comets at the field was “except for the sound it just like a turbine jetâ€
I also agree.

Hi Strykaas
How fast?
I wish I knew it felt faster than my kangaroo.
The first thing a friend asks was did you sill the hinge line with tape?
If it flutters it’s gone.
In a dive the engine leans out and the rpm just keep going up.
I keep pulling back on the throttle this thing is fast.

Mine is getting close to flying, also with the OS .91 and 14x7 prop. I am not going for retracts. If this flys like I expect I will do one with spring airs and a 12 lb. turbine. With that one I will mount the elev. servo in the stab I think. This is a very nice little plane. Bob

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
After a lot of trail and error the best combination for me has proven to be a 75 two stroke with a 10-7 two blade APC prop. It's running between 80 and 90 mph. Thats based on time to cross the length of our field so there is a margin for error. I put a Futt's nose strut on and it's works much better that the original and replaced the main gear struts with stiffer music wire and they stand up better than the originals. Changes are done and it's time really start enjoying flying this great looking plane.

RE: Nitro models pusher Bobcat?
I have spent the last few weeks getting one of these Bobcats ready to fly. In my view the kit as it stands really is not suitable for turbine use. It needs a fair bit of modification to make it into a quite nice turbine model. I sheeted all surfaces where there was open framing and put the elevator servo in the horizontal stab. I split the huge over large ailerons into ailerons and flaps. All hinges were changed for Robart ones. I strengthened the booms with carbon and made a better job of gluing the blind nut locating ply. I also fitted retracts.
We have just flown it for the first time today and were surprised at how well it flew. The model weighs 9.4 lbs dry and as it was only the third flight so Dave did not have it absolutely flat out. The engine is a MW44 Gold that has only 4 Kg, but the latest ones put out 4.75 Kg. The speed was up to 150mph as measured on the Eagletree system. I have some video for those interested.
I cannot think why anyone would want to put a heavier more powerful engine on it. Just look how slowly it lands with the flaps down with 9.4lbs.
