Hi,
Please find pictures of the "home made" IFF antennas for the 1/6 F-16. First picture is the original antenna, second the 1/6 model used for the mold and the last picture is the trial fit on my G2.

ICEPILOT: Question for you as you have many flights and have had several F 16's. Where do you put the center of gravity? I have had mine at the factory setting and think I might move it back some. Thanks for your reply.

Hi Jay - my CG now is a little behind 22 cm from the leading edge - I have tried 23 cm as well, but find that it lands better (the way I land it) with the CG where it is now.
Good luck!

Happy Fathers Day to everyone out there. Hopefully you get good flying time and family time. My wife decided to carry my F-16 outside and have my daughters pose next to it for a picture for my fathers day. I get to see them in 30 days. Have a good one everyone.

I maidened my F16 last Friday with a JB180gold. Being an old kit that was about 4 years old it weighed in at 37lbs empty. Flight performance was good but not great. So I immediately decided that the JB220 would be just right. Flew again the next day with the 220 and the CG at 22cms. What a perfect combination half power for level flight and unbelievable vertical wide open. I have aileron/elevator in the normal condition and 2 flap settings on condition 2 with elevons. This is still being sorted but the flap does allow slower approaches with a lower nose that should help reduce any chance of a strake strike on landing. I have a mix that introduces some elevon control at full back stick high alpha for better control. With 7 flights so far some fine tuning it still needed but it is a great fun bird. I am landing with a full center tank 1.5L after a 7 minute flight so I am slowly adding to the timers so I land with a half tank.
Up next is adding the full armament.
Thanks to everyone for their advice and a big thanks to "Icepilot" for the great information and feedback.

[QUOTE=blackcat;4866687]to joe and chris, yes it came with ducting and bypass, which i always use (space permitting),
Hi Dave and Blackcat
I have a query about fuel tank placement with this model when the full ducting system is installed. I am doing an inspection on this model and the owner has had to move the fuel tanks from where the manual states as the ducting does not allow for the tanks in their original position which is the top tank located on top of the saddle tanks just in front of the turbine. The ducting does not allow enough room for this. I cannot find any mention of full ducting on the Skymaster site and wonder if this is an option they offer but not advertised?.
Any help on this please?
Ron

Got any pics? The top tank can be placed and used just fine with half bypass and inlet ducting. Seen it. No issue. Full bypass on this model is not necessary if that is causing the restriction.
These are awesome jets. Great design.

You can install the 3 fuel tanks and the ducting and bypass. The inlet duct needs to be cut with a slight V to allow it to compress a bit as the center fuel tank sits on top of it. The lower half of the bypass links up to the duct while the upper part of the bypass sits on spacers as the overall diameter of the bypass is too narrow at the neck to allow for the correct fit of a JB220. I had to do a lot of fiddling to get things to fit but it does work well. In my install I had to accept that the upper part of the bypass was about a half inch above the lower half.

Hey guys, just got back from my second deployment. And I am back working on the jet. Have any of you with the new G2 kits had a problem installing the center tank. My saddle tanks go in fine but the center tank is not fun at all. I have made as much room as I can with grinding some wood out and stuff but it just will not fit in there. It almost makes me think my center tank is to big and maybe the wrong tank was sent to me.
any ideas guys?

The 180 gold was fine for normal maneuvering but the high alpha turns and verticals from slow speed need a lot of power. With the 220 I can keep going vertical from slow speed high drag turns. With the 180 I could not keep enough airspeed for good control. I fly at half or less most of the time with the 220 and just use the power when needed so it is like having an afterburner there when you need it.

Does anyone else find the F16 very tippy in crosswinds? I find it wants to roll and then yaw then tip over in a crosswind and often result in a wingtip touch. I am sacrificing my missile rails LOL but will add some small tip skids instead. So far my technique to stop this is to get aileron into wind on touchdown and put on the brakes but has not been fully successful. Anyone with gyros find this helps?
Thanks.
Doug
Thanks.

Hi Steven - you have to put the tanks in in the correct sequence - take out the turbine board, push the main tank into that area, install the side tanks, then
pull the main tank back into position and secure it. After this, connecting the tanks is very much easier if you use Festo connectors and 6 mm Festo tubing
as you can preinstall the connectors, then plug in the tubing when the tanks are installed.

Hi Doug! Congratulations on your maiden - and the choice of turbine!! In what situation does your F-16 get tippy? Taxing/Takeoff roll/Landing? I have never had this problem except
if I turn hard when taxing. As you know I only use full flying stabs as my controls, no ailerons or flaps - could you be overcompensating? Describe when this happens to me, OK?

Tor, thanks for the info. I have been looking at pics of other peoples fuel tanks and I am almost 100% sure my center tank is for a different plane. Maybe they sent me the 1/5th scale center tank. I will take a photo and post it so you can see how big that fuel tank is. My next question is about the tail pipe. For my turbine it calls for 20-30 mm from end of turbine to the inlet of the pipe. My real question is is there enough room between the end of my pipe and the actual end of the jet when the length is 4 inches? I hope that makes sense.

We had 2 sets that were sent here with the short pipes - that is wrong, and I believe you would melt or burn the tail cone with that setup.
I asked for (and got) 2 new, longer pipes that end only very close to the end of the cone.

Thanks Tor. that helps out alot. I will send Anton a pm and see what he says. Any ideas on my fuel tank situation? The center tank is alot bigger than the one you guys have in your pics

Steven, you don't have to use the big center tank...you could get something around 32oz or so and with the side tanks and have a good 6min flight easy on a 180 or similar. Big center tank + sides would probably provide 8 to 10 min flights I am guessing. It's a ton of fuel.. Some guys use one for smoke instead.
