i had first generation 1/7 l 39 from fly eagle
rated at 19 lbs not so
mine weighed 25 and with fuel almost 29

but this was first gen

build it light you should be ok
also fly it in
dont glide it
stay on power

i made mine a submarine quickly

hopefully new kits are much lighter
this was 2008 though

thought i would never order another fly eagle but then again the improvements have been excellent
now i have 2 fly eagle and ready to buld the small viper f e j
cant wait

good luck guys

This thread reminds me of Todd's recent similar attempt to obtain info (without much luck).... So let me kick this off.

This one time, at band camp, I talked to a guy whose brother's friend had one of these planes, or maybe it was another one, I'm not really sure. Either way, it had a turbine and servos and he really loved it.

Just finished checking the weight. This result is with the gear and every thing that came with the kit,hardware/pipe etc.

RH main 7lbs 5oz
LH main 7lbs 6oz
nose 5oz
-
22 lbs

Need to add engine, servo's, batt etc. I have an old P80(18lbs thrust) new in the box and wanted to use this engine.I may have to rethink this now.

might have same issue
plane with p80 and electronics can possibly be up in 25 26 dry
it will fly
but with mine it was the plane flying me not me flying the plane
it was more reaction to what planes tendancies were

best of luck i have spare gear if you need
good shape

Mine is first generation (over two years old). The plane is 10.5kg with full tanks. Engine is wren supersport.
Flies great, glides well at that weight. After all the mods I made, it's a really good plane.

Thanks. Very effective and convenient for maintenance.
The only issue I found with this brand is they sell their products as ARFs... while they are not !

at 28lbs, your plane is on the heavy side for sure. It should fly OK, but watch your airspeed.

Oh god !!! that was the question I didn't want you to ask...
On the fuse: Changed the rudder setup.
Changed the thrust pipe for a wren pipe.
Removed (easily) most of the formers, to change them. plywood was not up to my standards.
Changed the turbine beams to suit the small footprint of my wren.
Wings: Custom made new springs for oleos (absolutely necessary)
Changed O-ring brakes for regular rim brakes. I could not brake evenly with stock ones.
Changed most of the servo pockets as some of those parts were missing from my kit. So I dit it all over, my way.
Modified flaps setup as well, to allow more deflection.
Modified main gear doors my own way. Still don't understand how FEJ wanted me to do it.
That's it for the most important parts. There is more, but that was more on the cosmetic side...

You see how the plane stands higher off the ground with custom springs?
Few more shots of flap setup.

Also main retract bay has been heavily reinforced with carbon fiber after the first fight (after the pics were taken). The stock wood is far from perfect and cannot be removed.

Wow thanks, give me some time to go over and study what you did, looks great. One question for now, were can I get the gear springs or can you provide me a set.I have heard this before that the springs that come with the gear are week.I was going to contact James at FEJ but been busy.My formers are the cross balsa carbon face so I think I am good to go there.Love your flaps good work,Thanks again Yann.

OK, so you're good with the formers. Yes, I might be able to provide you with a set of spring the stock springs are way too weak.
FEJ, at the time I asked, was not able to provide different stiffness of springs.
The flap mod is very important too. It lets you come in much slower. A friend of mine had the same plane without the mods.
He was coming in mch faster.

Yann,
Thank you for the springs, how do you want to work the payment?.Is a USA check OK? I don't have paypal but a friend of mine does,I have to talk with him first. My kit is a pro kit so it came with all the flight controls installed.I don't want to cut the flaps right now.We have a large paved runway at the club so a slightly faster landing would be fine. But it is something I may do after I get a few flights on her, they just look cooler they way you did yours.

Let's find out first if I get you a set of those springs first. We'll figure out payment after.

I don't even remember how much I paid for my set...
