No change, removed both pins, one at a time.
When I remove the rear pin and push the boom towards the fuse, it just transfers to the other side?
Only cure I can see, is put a shim/filler plate between the boom and fuse.
Or, a different stab with the mounting holes closer together?
Maybe Alan will have an answer?

if you have not drilled the aluminum tabs in your stab there may be some hope. Put the booms and stab on loosely. Then put the wings on. Push the wings tight up against the boom so thAt the boom makes contact with the entire fuse. Tighten the wings to hold the booms in place and then tighten the stab on. Finally drill the aluminum tabs and put bolts through them. This happened to my fathers when I was building it. No issues from the booms being tilted a little.

Will give it a shot.
My stab fits on very tight, no play for making adjustments.
Could barley get it seated?
Maybe with a little' adjustment' I can loosen it up a bit to allow for some wiggle room.

My Feedback: (39)
A buddy of mine built one last year and said he had to cut the outer wing tubes out of the booms and re-glue them in straight. I'm not sure if he had the same problem as you as I never saw any pics but it sounds like the same problem. Seems like Boomerang has a problem with its jigs.

I don't think they are the same as they used to be mine is no where near what yours was Paul , mine is several years old and still goin strong over 130 flights on it. Nothing coming loose it didn't take anything weird to build it. Accept tight wing tubes. It flys straight still today

I had to sand out the tubes a little and then it fits good.
I don't think I will need to wrap the outer wing tubes like they suggest if they're loose.
Mine seem pretty tight.

Hi all,
I just wanted to post a couple of pictures of my Elan ready for it's maiden flight.
JetsMunt 100XBL
Electron ER40eVo retracts with electric brakes
Weight (dry): 9.8kg
I hope she flies like my Nano. Then the maiden should be straight forward (I hope :-)
Wish me luck

Cupped servo covers?
Long time forum member but infrequent poster. I'm new to fixed wing turbines but I've been flying turbine helicopters for around 4 years. Very excited about the Elan!
Thanks for all the great information on this new thread and the older "Elan has arrived" thread. Both very helpful so far. A quick question that I haven't seen discussed, however (tried a forum search). I just received an Elan Navy grey from Kilroy and everything looks pretty good except for the servo covers. They are badly warped. I'd describe them most accurately as "cupped." So much that the servo mount rails aren't even parallel. The plastic isn't very flexible and I've attempted to gently attach them to one of the servo bays on the bottom of the fuselage and I could hear very light cracking noises as they're forced flat; not good. Not just a "one of" since all 8 covers, left and right, are absolutely identical.
Has anyone come across this problem? I have sent photos to Kilroy and hoping to hear back from him. I did notice that Dreamworks has replacement covers for sale. They'll be next on my "call" list if I don't hear from the new US distributor.
Thanks so much in advance for your advice!

I have had two Elans and did not have that problem. Looks as if they got hot in storage someplace and warped. Perhaps you can heat them and over bend them back to be flat?

Servo covers resolved!
Sent an email with photos to Kilroy (new Boomerang USA distributor) and he gave me a call to let me know new covers are in the mail! Very grateful!
Update: Covers are beautifully flat! Great service from the new Boomerang USA distributor. Thanks Kilroy!

Simulated after-burner?
What do you think? Will I just burn up this ring? I am tempted to consider the smaller diameter version that will tuck further into the outlet. Actually being nearer the turbine nozzle may protect it more, before the hot exhaust stream has spread? I've noticed in some of the pictures in the Elan threads that the thermal discoloration of the paint actually seems to increase a bit toward the outlet of the fiberglass cone. Of course, the wire would be brought inside the fuse immediately forward of the ring.
You input would be very valued!

i would go along with the thoughts that it will melt burn self destruct ect the inside of mine has a layer of thin heat blanket. Works well no issues in over three years flying .

Hi Guys,
I have a question regarding the canopy and cockpit:
Just finishing the build on my second Elan. The manual indicates that the floor of the cockpit should be cut out to accomodate the cockpit interior. On my first oe, I cut the floor out of the interior piece and glued it. I didn't want to take that big a piece out of the actual cockpit. What have others done? Any pix?
Thanks,
Ken

I just blacked mine out. Painted the inside with Tamiya "Lame Flake" clear and then backed it with black.
Here's a video of 4 Elans flying together with the gopro looking over the canopy.

Field stand for Boomerang Elan
What are you guys using for a field stand for the Elan? I'd like a straightforward way of testing the retracts before sending her up. Idon't think the conventional "double-U" cradle will work since there isn't a centered aft fuselage section.
Thanks in advance for your input!
