I was out running my CEN MT2 around and after it got approx. 20ft from my radio it took off on its own. I've recharged the batteries in the reciever and the radio batteries are still good. what would cause that to happen?

You might of got radio interference form another person around using another radio car. Many other things cause interference like powerlines ect..Before each run test to make sure your radio isn't twitching.

I was using it in my driveway today when it happened and it happened yesterday too when I was out in a gravel parking lot. It does it very consistently. I don't think it has to do with interference, how sensitive are these radios to interference?
and yes i'm using the stock transmitter. I just got the truck so everything is stock and pretty much new. I had no problems breaking it in and I ran it a couple times trouble free after breakin as well.
Is there a chance i've shorted something in the electronics while cleaning? I've used rubbing alcohol and this R/C cleaner stuff I got at the hobby shop.

if you have any other transmitters then use them. it seems as tho you have gotten one of the bad transmitters. as far as i know there was a batch of faulty transmitters that came out with some of the cen cars. the easyiest and quickest way to get rid of this problem is to use a different transmitter. send ur stock tx back to cen and they should replace it for you. dont worry you havent done anything wrong, alot of ppl that i know who have had this truck have had the same problems. i have a cen mt2 but i havent even touched the stock tx.... it is still wrapped up in the bubble wrap, so i havent had these problems.
hope this helps you out

Sorry if this question is stupid but when you say transmitter do you mean the radio controller? I'm thinking this may be the problem, although it was working great for awhile.
I checked the wires on the reciever and the little gap where they come out of the reciever box is really little and they get kinda compressed when I close the lid. But the wires still look ok.

would a bad crystal cause bad reception between the reciever and transmitter? If so I might just pick up a new crystal to see if that works.
would I just need to get a crystal for the transmitter or do I need something to put in the reciever as well?
I'm definately gonna buy a failsafe for it too!
