After action report.
Today a couple of friends from work and I decided to take advantage of the holiday to commit some bashing. We gathered a mighty force of two Maxxes and my Savage. Tank after tank the Savage fought on valiantly while the Maxxes had a tailgate party. Staying out of the fray, having this and that tweaked and adjusted. The 8 port Hyper engines' roar undoubtedly had the Maxxes shaking in their boots. They just refused to come out and play. Especially after a 2.5 Maxx ventured out once and got smoked promptly.
Alas the mighty Savage fell like Achilles. After 4 hours of fun and 3/4 gal fuel, the clutchbell retaining screw parted company and retired the mighty champion.
But seriously. I am very happy with the way my Savage performs. I spent about 4 hours tearing it up before a malfunction. The one time I did not threadlock that darned screw it comes back to bite me.
This is not meant to put down the Maxx. While the Maxx guys had some issues, when the dust settled, everyone has had tons of fun.

How nice is that!?!?!?!?!? The Savage Kicking some rear!!!!!!! I too had my Savage out today. I now have 6 tanks of fuel through it and have been slowly leaning it out. What a blast!!!!! I can not wait until I can tear up some dirt and rock with this thing. Looks like you guys had a ton of fun. Take care.

Right on bro. That truck looks like it went through battle. I love the way it looks. I to have 6 tanks through my savage and can't wait to tear it up.
Question:
Is everyone adding loctite to that screw? Is this some someone recommended doing?

I would recommend you loctite that screw. Even the instructions show to apply loctite there. I just spaced it. :stupid:

"Where do you even begin cleaning up a truck like like that????"
The body is the easy part, just wash it in the sink. After that I use my shop vac and old tooth brush and start brushing and sucking up the dirt. I have a Tmaxx and I take the wheels and maybe the skid plates off to help get the dirt out.

delcampo,
Look at page 45 of your Savage manual. Right around the center of the page the diagram shows the clutch being assembled. And you'll also see a little tube of Thread Lock being applied to the clutchbell retaining screw.

Looney,
That pic of your savage is pretty awesome. I will keep it in my personal library of cool looking savages. About 3 days ago I drove my savage through this really heavy mud bog and it ended up looking something like that. I had it in the back of my truck when I went to Vail for some snowboarding. I took it out and drove it around in the snow for a while. The next day I went to the truck to clean it out and it was completely clean. How cool is that.

Yep it's all about fun!
Every time I go to the track(I still dont race but still go to watch every once in a while)there is this guy who races and has his 2 step? sons w/ him.
They are constantly bickering, fighting and what ever.I onetime heard him tell the youngest son he was acting like his little sister.
I just think it's lame especially in public to say derogitory things to their children like that.
Then they got into it cuz he wouldn't let one of the kids run his car in a race. The kid is never able to get his car running.
