Just got done with it. Not a extreme as the other ones yet I think you might get a little more out of this one. Had to dull down the induction a little. Cut myself just holding it. It will go out tomorrow depending on the old lady's plans if not mon for sure.

You should have the crank and carb on friday. The carb went from a 8mm to a 9.1mm so that should take care of the needle problems and give you a bit more performance as well without being too much carb. Hope it works since I have yet to try mine with the bigger carb on it.

The new 24/38 gearing will be here tomorrow with the wing and mounting stuff for that. Hoping that will give it a little more traction at least in the middle of the run. I already no that nothing will help from the line.

You da man. Cant wait to get the monster back together. See if cant maybe get 40,000+ out of it with the MAC's pipe now with the bigger carb.

I finally got one of those piston/sleeve sets to work. The sleeve actually wasnt the problem. I mic'd all the pistons, and none of them were true. Took one over to my buddys shop and stuck it in lathe and got it trued up... fits like a glove now...but not OJ's glove.

Workin out a trade for one of my modded Zenoah 260 cylinders and a JR XR3 radio for a brand new OS 18 CVR for the RS4.. so gonna have it apart, so gonna pull the clutchbell of it and see if it does infact mesh up with the traxxas spurs. If so.. ill be doing some testing with some higher gearing. Will be a 19/41 first gear (8.86), and a 23/37 second gear (6.61). If it will turn 39000+ again with this gearing, should run 70-72mph.

That kind of actualy makes sense. Giving it the pinch it gets rotated a bunch of times being tightened little by little to make the sleeve round so it doesn't push air. Just remember to break it in like a new motor so you don't hurt the piston. That trade seems like alot for a cvr that is around 120 new. Hope the gearing will work for you cause I know that thing will pull those r's for you. Even though I had thought the goal was to make it a 132 truck for your grudge match. Unless it is topping out before that mark with the current gearing.

I have no use for the radio since i only use Futaba FASST, and the cylinder is just a old spare.. so for a new CVR its a good trade in my eyes.

The goal is still 132ft grudge racing... but for now, i just wanna see what kind of speeds i can get out of it. The racing with it wont be until November when i go out to Louisiana...so have a while to mess with it before getting it setup and dialed in for racing.

It has processed throught the sort facility in atlana so you should have it tomorrow. The boat looks good Will.

I have finished my truck with all of the telemetry sensors hooked up, new cooling head, 1/8 scale high downforce wing, new foams on a new set of rims. It is looking so good I don't want to drive it. The only bad thing is that the gearing that is coming from nitro house is on back order so it still doesn't move for the time being anyways. I also have some titanium tubing coming that will allow me to use the original firestorm top shaft and mount the 2 speed gearing on that.

that thing looks awesome. I almost bought one of those heads when i saw em on ebay. Glad i didnt now so our trucks stay a bit different. What wheels are those? They look sweet. Rather small lookin though... 75mm or so?

Good gues they are 78mm. Nobody bid on the head so I scooped it up for $19. The rims are hpi black chrome with 1/8 scale foams mounted on them and re trued. They are small and do make it hard for the gearing to give it a higher speed, but the plus is that the over all height of the truck is 130mm to the top of the body so wind resistance is minimal and being a lot lighter for faster motor spool up. Which makes it a huge plus for drag racing.

yea i was gonna bid on it...but ive bought aftermarket heads off ebay before, and they didnt fit...so i didnt wanna end up having that not fit either. I did miss a complete brand new HPI 2 speed setup for $30 though..was pissed about that but oh well.

The head itself is real nice, maybe a little bit heavier than the stock one. The button though was smaller than the sleeve so I just used one that I had laying around

They are all one piece except fot the old black 3 port heads. They have notches in them for the motor mounts and are a lot bigger around

Its looking really good, roadwarrior.  All of this firestorm activity and I am up to nothing with the storm for a long time now [].  I am doing lots with the electric and started with the blitz so I am loyal to the family.

Unfortunately most of my driving time is at night so I use the electrics to  keep the neighbours happy.  The problem with a 2-speed conversion is that I would lost the slipper clutch which I want since I pretty much drive nitros off road exclusively and like to drive rough.  My big block setup with the 35/18 gearing in it is great for bashing yet still kicks most nitros for speed.

The wing on it was done for cosmetic reasons mostly.  The next modification challenge I see being needed for the storm are sway bars.  I thought about trying to mount the MT2 set.

I have done the sway bar on the back before and it worked good. If there was more turning involved in my driving I would put another one on again

Well i guess the post office decided to keep the crank for the weekend since it didnt show up today. Oh well.

Tested the motor with the crank i modded...but didnt go so well. The carb i used, obviously the o-ring on the high needle is shot as fuel was leaking past it and being splattered everywhere. Didnt feel like taking the engine out to change carb, so just gave up on it for today and ran my RS4 a little bit. Ive definetely got bored with the speed of it lol... need to put good motor in it now so i can put the 37t 2nd gear spur on with my 70mm foams.

yea they just like to be slow getting it out of the atlanta facility sometimes. Ive had things sit there for over a week before finally being transfered here.
