After running my Firestorm for about 3 tanks after break-in, I decided it might benefit from better weight distribution since the rear tended to carry a spin like a Porsche. I moved the battery pack to where the receiver was. Next I'll protect the reciever.

What I'd like for the the car is a step-up in wheel and tire size and a diff fluid that would give it more limited slip properties. Anyone help?

Very nice.

My clutch bell and wheels came in today.

Can't wait to get home and run it some.

Too bad i only got like 1 tank of fuel left..

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Whenever i wasp utting on my new clutch bell, i noticed the stock one had turned purplish, like it turns form extreme heat.

Is this normal?

NitroNate 03-06-2008 11:43 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

No,there must have been friction somewhere.

Beater Of Angels 03-06-2008 11:51 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Whenever i put on my new clutch bell, i think there were only 4 washers total instead of 5.

Could that of been the issue?

NitroNate 03-07-2008 12:01 AM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

I doubt it.
Maybe the clutch bell was rubbing against the flywheel?

Hey what temps are you dude's getting? Mine wants to run 250 or 260 especially in grass and I haven't even really dropped the needles much at all from stock locations, and it's not even hot outside.

NitroNate 03-07-2008 04:09 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

I'm right around 200-220,which is a little cool.I'm hoping to get it around 220-230.

the battery compartment on my car was pinching the wires from the battery holder, and ended up severing the red wire. Is there an easy way to rejoin the two halves, or do I have to buy a new pack?

Beater Of Angels 03-07-2008 07:32 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

You could solder it, or tie em together and elec. tape over em.

Best bet would be soldering.

NTRC 03-07-2008 10:38 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

since i dont own a soldering gun (yet) ill try tying them and taping them.

Thanks

So, driving around today, and after like 5 mins(just was enjoying the new 2t clutch bell effects), i flipped, and hit the right rear wheel wrong, and it broke one of the pieces that holds the arm to the pin.

Also cracked the front bulkhead (both pieces).

:(.

Are these parts that would be good to upgrade to aluminum? as i know aluminum can sometimes to more bad than good.

NitroNate 03-08-2008 09:21 AM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

The bulkhead should be aluminum and after you have an aluminum bulkhead, then you can get aluminum a-arms.I would rather recommend rpm a-arms(once they are in stock),but the bulkhead should definitly be aluminum.

Beater Of Angels 03-08-2008 12:53 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

I am not having any luck finding an aluminum bulkhead...

What company's make it?

NitroNate 03-08-2008 01:13 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Sorry,I forgot to mention www.neweramodels.com .This is somthing you might want from them: http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...=&part_id=8908

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Thanks a bunch for that link nate.

Question though, that is jsut the support piece right? What about the actual bulkhead?

Is this a replacement for the actual bulkhead http://www.apexmodels.com/product-se...ries&id=13130?

Actually, i think i'll jsut get the stock bulkhead set, and than that brace peice. Should be good after that.

NitroNate 03-08-2008 01:29 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

This: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXPZE1&P=OW and this: http://www.neweramodels.com/item.cgi...=&part_id=8908 will give you a very strong front end. After you have all that, you should get the alloy a-arms from neweramodels.
I'm not sure that an aluminum bulkhead is made yet,but I'm keeping my eye on new era.;)

Beater Of Angels 03-08-2008 02:06 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

Thanks alot man.

That reinforcing plate jsut goes over the nylon bulkhead protector right?

MiGSpoT 03-08-2008 05:24 PM

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-

In my opinion... If you install a Front Chassis Reinforcing Plate for bashing and then hit something "again", You will damage some other parts, maybe more expensive than a factory bulkhead set or even the engine. I'm sure there's a reason for the "flexible" front chassis installed by HPI...

But!! it is a good upgrade for racing, beacuse it reinforces the front-end for more accurate suspension/steering tuning on the track.
