Default decal sheet

Whats the deal with these things? I got this medieval flames mask and need to put it inside the truggy. Question is how without distroying the decal?
Might just go back to the liquid mask and free hand in these flames.
Any info on how to this? Thanks.

Default RE: decal sheet

Hi,

Just to be sure, your actually talking about a Paint mask, rather than a decal sheet? (decal sheet would be colour printed patterns, paint masks would be 1 colour vinyl)

If its a paint mask, then you should have got a sheet of pre-cut paint mask, and probably a similar sized sheet of paper which you've passed off as being just packing/padding or something, but chances are its a sheet of masking tape, or transfer tape as its called for this purpose.
If you have, then you want to peal the backing layer off the *transfer tape* and apply it onto the top of your paint mask as carefully as possible (it might help to peal away 1" apply that and then roll and uncover the backing of the transfer tape as you go up the paintmask, stops you getting into a huge mess if it accidently sticks to itself before you've applied it!)

Once the transfer tape is onto the paint mask, you can peal the *paint mask* backing off and you then have the sticky mask surface ready to be applied. This then means you can apply the 2 layers onto the bodyshell exactly where you want it to go without any hassles and when its down where you want it, carefully peal off the transfer tape being careful not to lift or disturb the paint mask, then you've got your paint mask exactly where you want it and your ready to paint.

A good idea is to cut the sections of the mask out before applying them, so the bits for the side you'd seperate from the bits on the roof and front, apply transfer tape to those and apply them one by one.

You can also weed the masks before putting on the transfer mask (weeding is removing the excess masking which reveals more of the design) and although it can be done once its on the bodyshell easily enough, it is much easier to see the design if you pre-weed and you can make sure the design is applied exactly where you want it to go.

Hope that helps,
