RE: 2005 F3A World Championships
Acrobat - do you think the judges are qualified? Do you think there is enough participation from each country? If the answer is yes to these questions, all should be fair for all pilots. If the answer is No, tell us on what basis you think it's unfair. Did you see CPLR's flights? Do you have information from a pilot there that CPLR did not fly a 630? (in their opinion)
"CPLR is a top pilot but im sure there are many others in the world just not noticed" - Yes there are many others... they are all there flying.
I do like your idea sending a top pilot from each country, as long as the high score and the low score were thrown out from each round. Of course, all countries would have to be represented.

All your planes a gorgeous, I bet we will see soon some Jason trim scheme kids growing around.
Whatever your results are guys, you are already for sure the Stars of our hobby.

By the way, I have had a great time reading the Hebert Comp website and all the infos from anyone making this thread a real pleasure to read, ty.
Merci Ã* toi P1 frenchie, pour les superbes photos. Et, comme dit précedemment, n'hésites pas Ã* nous abreuver d'images et d'infos inédites qui rendent les distances moins pénibles. Bien Ã* Toi.

It would be nice if somebody attending the worlds or any other person that can have access to information about what model/engine participants are using, nothing specific, just model and engine.

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships
Having represented my native Suriname in the 2003 F3A Worlds in Poland I can share with you that at this level you get some of the best judging in the world. It is quite fair and judges are from all the geographic regions. A true "world level" international event and must see for all pattern buffs.
Good luck John and Geoffrey Bainathsah!

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships
Hi Guys (and claude papaone),
you can find all this photo and more on http://forumf3a.cabb41.net (sure cause i'm the photographer), will get all the results for semi finals tomorrow with the help of a friend organisator.
For sure if Christophe will be hard to overcome, a nice fight between USA, Japan, Germany, France and Italia is coming with the first result(team wolrdchampion) will be known tomorow!!!!
GL but Go Go Go France
PS: I have also seen the 2nd Flight of CPLR (score 630) It was amazing with a 90° wind, you were thinking there was no wind [X(] . I have seen Hyde 2nd flight two and i think it was not one of is best.... many wings errors.

Bonjour Mcleote

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships
Now were starting to see a better picture. CPLR is not flying that much better than everybody else..Some guys are getting some scores against him. Namely Onda and Bernd with Chip getting a really good flight today. But so far he leads every round he has flown.
They are posting based on raw scores for result orderand this is a little blurry in the results as the scores will all be normalized tomorrow and TBL applied. This shows Jason in 4th and Chip in 5th..It really comes down to who wins round #3 Roland, CPLR or one of the USA guys, Chip or Jason. Onda is already 4th in this round so far...But it could be his drop if he flies very well in Rd #2 that Chip and Jason, Sean, Matts, and CPLR already have very good placing.
Sooooo.
Teams standing right now...tomorrow will tell for sure....and some pilots didn't finish the morning session for day 3 due to rain. In this group was Suzuki I guess from JPN..But in the two rounds he has scored he is very close to Sean in Rd #3 and is right behind Jason in Rd4 and ahead of both Chip and Sean in Rd4. Akiba is behind Chip and ahead of JAS, Behind Sean in one and ahead of him and Chip in another. This is still with 25% of the flying yet to be done for the Team gold. But its getting very tight
1. JPN pilot #1Onda (2nd, 4th, 2nd)
#2 Suzuki(not completed, 6th 7th)
#3 Akiba (5th, 7th, 9th)
2. USA #1 Chip (2nd, 4th, 10th)
#2 JAS (6th, 5th, 6th)
#3 Sean (7th, 5th, 11th)
Not sure how they are counting FRA team scores as they have 4 pilots..I think CPLR doesn't count at all toward team placing as he is defending champ and the french team is 3 pilots....Otherwise the country with the defending world champ would always win the team gold as they have 4 pilots...
Again Team standings are RAW's and not normalized scores this will count when they normalize as one pilot has a bad round and gets dropped while another keeps a lower score. Right now USA has a couple of low scores we need to replace.
France and Liechtenstein are a little ways back compared to USA and JPN but lots and lots can change when pilots drop their lowest of the 4 rounds Right now CPLR, Chip, Jason's group has not flown round #3 If CPLR wins this round this could push the Matt's and Sean lower in Rd 3...Also since Suzuki has yet to fly this round...this is a wild card too...If he has a good flight like 5th or 6th then JPN is ahead and if he flies a 10th and USA improves on their lows then...USA will probably win it. Also a wild card is Roland and Wolfgang hitting round #1 where Jason and Chip have good placing so far.
Team USA needs to get a good round for all 3 pilots for tomorrow as the standings here are really tight and nobody will know for sure until the final pilot.
other notables....Bernd Beschoner from Germany, Silvestri from Italy, and BPLR (cplr's brother) are flying very well.
Onda from Japan is 2nd to CPLR in 2 rounds so far. But Roland has him by a smidgen at the moment. Right now it looks to me like its CPLR, Roland, Onda top 3 after the prelims. With Onda and Roland extremely tight. Chip, Jason and Sean are looking at like 5th to 10th...Throw the JPN team in this about same spot...again all depends on Day 4 of the prelims.

!QUOT!CPLR is a top pilot but im sure there are many others in the world just not noticed!QUOT! - Yes there are many others... they are all there flying.
I do like your idea sending a top pilot from each country, as long as the high score and the low score were thrown out from each round. Of course, all countries would have to be represented.

Please note im trying not to sound pessimistic, F3A is the greatest sport especially in the creation of the unique design planes.

Hi
Thanks to Sébastien "Mc" Leaute who shot every pictures I posted in this forum.
Sebastien knows of what he speaks. He is a french compétitor in F3A and saw the differents flights
in this WC.
Doug is right. French team is composed with BPLR, Stéphane Carrier and Florent Rochedieu.
That was the décision of our fédération FFAM to get 4 competitors instead of 3.
Good luck to USA team.
Regards

If you look in the FAI website you'll notice under the French Team that CPLR is not counted as a team pilot.
Also just to comment about judges, not very often you get good and young fliers to be judges, they are all flying!, to be a judge is very demanding, difficult and booooooring, thus older more experienced guys(been judges) are better suited for the task and easier to find.
Regards to all.
P.D. Papaone, thanks for the pictures and the effort to communicate what you are seeing there!!

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships
Top 30 go to the semi's on Friday.
They fly 2 rounds with a combined normalized score from the prelims...example pilot #1 is in the lead with 3000 from the prelims he gets 1000 then pilot #2 has a 2990 he gets normalized to 996.66
They fly two rounds of F-05 and then this gives 3 scores. The rpelim combines score and (2) F-05's the best 2 scores will count for classification to the finals. In the Semi's 1/2 the judges will score rd 1 of the semi's (10 judges) and 1/2 will judge round 2 of the semi's(10) judges. Assignment to the groups for judges is by random draw.
Top 10 pilots will fly the finals with no carry overs. 4 rounds will be flown F-05, Unknown #1, F-05, Unknown #2 The best F-05 and the best Unknown will count for the final individual placing.
In the finals there will be 20 judges. 6 judges for left turnarounds, 8 judges for center figures, and 6 judges for the right turnarounds. Judge assignments will be by random draw and will serve in that group (left turnarounds or middle figure ect.) for first F-05 and the first Unknown. Then random draw will determine the group assignment for the next two rounds of finals and no judge will be in the same group twice.
For each competitor the score from the 3 groups following (TBL computation) will be combined for a total score for the flight
As always Go USA!!!!!
